Xenogears

What a game. Notoriously "unfinished" and yet such a masterpiece.
Have you played it? What do you think?

I found this AMV that I used to be really into like a million (or 20-ish) years ago.

Played it long time ago, undeveloped story for sure but the game is nice, except for the time it takes to display the text in the dialog boxes (there is a mod to fix this) and the fact the game doesnt say the HP you lose in the mecha battles follow you to the next battle.

As a Xenoblade fan I didn't play xenogears... SQUARE STOP WITH THE DRAGON QUEST REMAKE SLOP AND GIVE THIS GAME TO MONOLITH!!!!!!!!

Sadly Xenogears was said to be one of the games that was lost. To be able to get it remade, it has to be rebuilt from the ground up. One of the biggest disappointments in gaming... :(

I love the combo system, would have been nice to see it remade for the Switch with more of the original japanese content, like the combo system intact.

they already made a Chrono Cross remaster without Monolith(as most of Monolith people worked in Xenogears, Chrono Cross and DewPrism) and wasn't great, so the best thing that we could expect is a Xenogears port by Artepiazza(Dragon Quest DS ports, Romancing SaGa ports and Super Mario RPG remake)

oh, and Square doesn't own Dragon Quest, Armor Project does

One of, if not my favourite game of all time. I've completed is so many times and I still enjoy it!

Even with the issues with disk 2, I just love the mechanics and the mecha in the game. The story also has so many levels...

There was a demo included with Parasite eve. It was an interesting one as it broke the 4th wall and introduced other characters during the combat section with Bart even saying "relax! it's only a demo!"

Xenogears was always high on my list, but I've never seen Disc 2, I believe I have a save point on my PS3 with it ready to use, but lost my good copy to a swindler. Anyone play the Retranslation version before?

It's very unfinished and masterpiecy. Lives up to its reputation.
In general, I think it's a hard game to play. About as slow as FF9, with a very annoying zooming screen transition, slow scrolling text, and meandering even though it has so much to tell. Then comes disc 2 and we're strapped to a chair.

The world map at the end is also disappointingly empty. Still, the story was worth the one complete playthrough I've done. It's one of my favourites, yet I can't replay it. I still remember when the story was reaching high gear, how glad I was to have undertaken the journey.

I started it a while ago. Currently halg-way through the first disc. It's great, specially in this day and age where multiple hacks and patches address even the slightest annoyances in retro games.

Reminds me of another 'unfinished' game that is indeed a masterpiece. MGS V, anyone?
