Xbox 360 VS Playstation 3 - The console war of the 2000s

It was the only console that lasted without breaking. JK, i thought it won the console wars because it was the most successful 7th gen console at the time especially after ps3 and 360 screwed up. but who knows i wasn't paying attention to the other consoles back then.

By different game you mean not the hardcore gamers?
I don't know what's the deal with that but I'd argue that hardcore gaming wasn't really on the PS360 either: it was an era where AAA became less demanding as well.

You could argue some exceptions like Bayonetta, Devil May Cry and other action games were on them but ultimately there wasn't a dichotomy of casual vs hardcore only between the Wii and PS360. Most were probably doing retrogaming or playing specific indie games like Super Meat Boy.

Interesting but true most were probably doing retro gaming or playing indie. but i didn't find out about indie games til 2014 because fnaf & retro games i got into in 2022. so i don't think everyone knew about it unless i misread that last sentence ?

The Wii had that "for toddlers and old people in retirement houses" reputation because of some of the games but then family games started more or less in the middle end of the PS2 era, it was just one evolution of gaming that Nintendo focused on when making the DS and Wii.

I could even argue that if you wanted hardcore games there were MadWorld, Sin & Punishment Star Successor, Donkey Kong Country Returns, Punch-Out, MM9 and so on.

True Monster hunter tri on wii is technically hardcore but that came out i think 2009? but anyway yep the wii was seen as more casual because it was for everyone and then Microsoft and Sony tried copying Nintendo because it was successful when the Wii did it XD

Agree, and add specific cheesemints like CoD4 Mile High Club on highest difficulty. Games in general became far less "demanding" and permit the player to just "bully" their way through to completion without having to really master or overly engage with game mechanics.

My family copped an Xbox 360 back in 2006(the Wii as well). We were always a "year late" at the very least when it came to new consoles. Didn't buy a console at launch until the Switch came out but I digress. Had a 360 for a few years before it finally started doing the Red Ring of Death thing and those first few years were amazing playing Gears, Halo, etc. But after it started the RRoD deal I definitely slowed down with my play cuz I was forced to.

Ended up at the USMA and with my stipend one month I copped the new version of the 360 but after only having it for a year i copped a PS3 and only months after that I sold my 360 after I found out Microsoft was double charging me for Live. Ever since then I never went back to Xbox, only buying a 360 again within the last year. Never played a "Microsoft exclusive" game until many years later on Steam but play later Gears & Halo games felt way off.

When I had finally copped the PS3 it was the perfect time cuz I was growing tired of online play and the types of games that were coming out for the 360. But regarding online play, funny enough the last game I truly enjoyed playing online happened to be The Last of Us Factions which I was beasting in, forming an unlikely tag team with an Australian dude. Had me playing at the oddest hours in the day lol. Funny enough, I didn't have the PS3 for too long cuz I'd upgrade to the PS4 I wanna say less than 4 years after I copped it.

I had the 360 for a little over 5 years while I had a PS3 for a little less than 4. Loved both for different reasons, disliked for different reasons but overall Microsoft burned me and I didn't like that(fast forward to now and Microsoft still burning me as I hate dealing with Windows 11 at my job lol). Once the announcement for the Xbox One came out, it solidified it to me that I couldn't go back. The one and only game I still wish to play post-360 Microsoft that I still don't have the resources to play is Sunset Overdrive. One day I'll play it tho lol.

Fast forward to now and I stated that I have a 360 and a bunch of physical games for that but I also have a PS3 that I decided to jailbreak and load up. As of right now I have more physical games for those systems than anything. Again, love them both.

All I remember about the Xbox 360 is this:

I never had a PS3

360. Mainly because most multiplatform games either ran better, or tended to have the best content. Not all the time, but a majority of the time. Plus, most PS3 games you had to wait and install the game before playing. With 360, most games you can pop in without waiting, other than some small update every now and then with later titles.
