Xbox 360 Bad update... Update

Well, it's all you can do. *teeheedoggy* But for others, it's good to know it can be used to do a proper mod for basically no cost.
You have no idea what I'm capable of. I'm glad for you and the others, but sharing your "proper" hardmod solution in a thread meant for people who aren't interested in that route just makes it look like you're punching air now that there’s a much easier (and still proper) way. There's always that one person.::lol

Ya honestly I'm with you. Even though I can RGH a 360, if I were to buy another I'd just do the bad update. Hell of a lot less trouble honestly. RGHing a 360 isn't hard by any means if you know what you're doing. It's just tedious and time consuming, really.

And at worst, you have to do one or maybe two reboots if the exploit has a hiccup

(And I did kill a couple of 360s learning how to RGH them. Aeons ago, it happen's) ::cirnoshrug

Exactly, there are multiple reasons to choose badupdate over a hardmod. Besides, people with the latest model don’t have any other choice.

I've seen some sad comments. Like someone saying they broke their console a few days before it came out. It happens like u said. ::frown

Nah, you wanted to be all snarky when I specifically said it was great for avoiding a lot of tedium in a hardmod procedure (which is huge, yes). You moved the goalposts without thinking just to get a point or something silly. Don't even, little giggly dog.

And an exploit, by definition, is not a proper mod. English is hard, I guess.

At best, you'll be booting up, running an exploit, then playing whatever after a minute, not seconds. It's as good as a swap trick or boot disk on other consoles, and it gets old. If my post wasn't for *you*, maybe you shouldn't have commented like it was a ridiculous notion to want another somewhat parallel option. It was perfectly on-topic.

Well, at the end of the day, I think it matters whether you can boot up the system or not. A minute or two off won't make much of a difference once you get to play the thing. :)

True, some solutions are faster, but maybe also perceptions are different. I for one am on a Jasper and don't mind waiting a few minutes.

Others might get annoyed with that and I respect their point as well.

Yeah, it is for sure better than nothing, and is opening lots of doors. My first PSX mod was a swap disc, and using it drove me to learn to solder (wasn't great at anti-pirate code titles).

Swap disk? Ah, because they made that wobbly sector they read to do the copy protection, right? I remember reading about that, don't remember whether it was PSX or another Playstation console.

Yeah, exactly right. Home CD burners can't replicate it, so the console knows it's a copy. There were other measures too, like 'anti-mod' and libcrypt. A boot disk like PSX-Change 2 allowed for inputting a *long* gameshark code to bypass the anti-mod stuff, but it was a pain and just led to not playing those.

Mad respect for all ya, I only know basics , since I've only soldered for a project with a Pi few years ago. Good to have smart / talented people here as well.

Well, can't really blame them, can we?
They were really trying to protect their work, unless I'm missing something.

Microsoft and their problematic updates. Some things never change. You'd swear it was intentional.

OP: Hey, there's a way to mod your xbox without soldering.
You: Okay, nice. Did you know you can just solder? 🧠

Then suddenly, you can't handle it when someone prefers an easier method. You act like they're beneath you and they can't do it your way. Now you're trying to criticize people's English comprehension without even knowing where they're from or whether English is their first language.

Also, I personally never even called badupdate a mod. So what's with the random insults? You can keep those, along with your explanations about modding.
