Or someone who liked hunting achievements in that game. I’m also someone who didnt like Minecraft (yes I beat ender dragon back on my ps3), and want something more “game-ified” for the lack of a better word.

Curious what others think!

i would recommend it if you're playing on PC, i find the controller layout on consoles to be pretty uncomfortable. i've never beaten it in its current state but i sank an unreal amount of time into the alpha build back in the day, very satisfying dig down simulator.

Awesome, thank you!

After playing it on gamepass, i bought it to play offline cause it is so good. Also If you can get the 3ds version, it has 3 bonus bosses not found in the main game. Doubly goodness. And if you like Terraria, you can play starbound, which is kinda like space Terraria. Also on gamepass if you want to try, If you don't have an Xbox, you can buy gamepass ultimate and play it on xbox game cloud on any pc, android device and some tv sticks.

An old roommate of mine has been playing Terraria for the past decade. I still see him from time to time playing it on Steam in 2025. I've never played the game myself, but his dedication should count for something.

I wouldn't recommend it to ANYONE.

If this is what you want then you'll probably like it. It's more combat and exploration focus and there's a relatively straightforward progression throughout the game with new materials being gated behind defeating certain bosses (and vice versa sometimes) all of which builds up to a final boss. It's still "open" enough though that you can try and sneak into harder areas for better loot and do that sort of thing if you want.
Even though building isn't the focus here beyond setting up houses for NPCs, it still manages to have a better progression for building QoL than Minecraft funnily enough.
