Worst second part you've ever played

MGSV

The first part was just "ok", but the second part is just grind until you manage to unlock the last video... I really dont know what game all journalists and youtubers played, because it certainly wasnt a copy of the same MGSV that i have.

they probably just played the first part of the game. konami set up a literal boot camp for reviewers to go to so they could play the game. i think it lasted like 3 or 4 days. not enough time to thoroughly go through a game. sometimes the better reviews are the ones that come out later. one youtuber that i watch did a review on pikmin 4 about a year or so after it came out. it's a 4 hour video going over every part of the game. i got it on my list to watch later.

After doing an EXTENSIVE 100% playthrough of Wind Waker... yeah its second half can be rough. Getting 100% in any open world game can become tedious, but Wind Waker's entire second half is just exploring (for anyone that hasn't played you need to find eight items to progress. To find these items you need to find a map for each specific one. Each map also needs to be decoded, which costs a lot of money. Essentially to find one of these items to you need to sail to Point A, grab the map, go get it decoded at point B, then go to point C to retrieve the item. Do this eight times)
There's virtually no story progress outside of the Earth and Wind temples during this time, and the game doesn't really have that many proper sidequests. I couldn't even stop my 100% run to go do something else because at this point in the game, story progress was basically the exact same thing I was already doing.

I don't think they are bad games but compared to the previous or next game they are too far behind for my taste:

Super Mario Bros 2.

Silent Hill 2.

Fatal Frame II.
SMB2 i can fully agree .

Silent Hill 2 is rather overrated and got way too much spotlight while the other games getting more overlooked because SH2 is being seen as the peak of the series with its story . Its a great game but one that still fumbles the horror a bit.

But Fatal Frame 2 is actually awesome .
Not so creepy like the first one but the gameplay is butter-smooth , its very content rich , huge replay-value and the story and the endings are really interesting .

I was always flabbergasted by this when I started to use the internet more, because I always thought the triforce hunt was the coolest part of the game and was really surprised to see what a common opinion disliking it was.

As for my contribution to the thread, I’ll go out on a limb and say the Kanto part of Pokémon GSC. It’s up to interpretation if you consider Kanto the second half or just the postgame, but I think it’s substantial enough to count as the second half.
While a cool thing, it’s not really super interesting as it’s more or less just grinding through the entirety of the region without any particularly cool events.
Also doesn’t help that some gen2 Pokémon were relegated to that region, but the levels are so wonky so you’d get like a level 16 Houndour when your team was in their 50s-60s.

it would be cool if it was a bit more spread out throughout the story, rather than being done all at once. if i remember correctly, you have to pay to have the maps deciphered and it costs a pretty penny as the saying goes. i would have probably stopped there when i tried to play the game many years ago.
kanto is generally agreed to be the post game part of gold, silver and crystal.
yeah, it is kind of boring after your initial go through. some stuff is interesting, like viridian forest being gone, some new buildings popping up. a couple of gym leaders change.
but the placement of the pokemon, for both regions. i don't have words to describe the bewilderment that i get upon looking at maps of pokemon locations. half of the new and cool looking pokemon are so far into kanto it's not funny. the new ghost pokemon can be completely missed on your way to the top of mt silver; i think there was a fire slug or something to find outside of celedon city. and the levels matching the first games when you got up to lv 50 or higher to get there. just complete nonsense.

I didn't say it was bad, just that for me it's the one I like the least of the saga, I even like IV better in comparison.
