Worst Fandoms for a game?

No stupid elitist groups gatekeeping the series or activist group trying to censor a game like Stellar Blade. The thing about today is fandoms and streamers are having too much influence on game developers.

I swear on all thar is holy, the majoriry just know it from pretentious video essays about 2. Hell, blooper even Hired a video essayist for the shitty remake of 2

IF modern fans played the games, they only played 2. Or they played it first and then the others

It might as well be the only game in the series, 3 gets Some love but no one gives a fuck about 1 and 4

I contemplated making a thread about Silent Hill misconsceptions because of how wifespread they are (like the nurses in the second game meaning repressed sexuality, when thats actually the mannequinn). So many people take some dude's personal interpretation as fact when the series Has a Lorebook, its been available online for free and it explains everything

While the series uses symbolism and a lot of surreal stuff, the actually story and the world is not abstract or up to interpretation at all. Theres only Some stuff thats left to your imagination


I have a bone to pick with yt essayists in general:; they're all just a bunch of midwits, who think playing a lot of videogames and going to film school makes you smarter than the dumb commoners

And a lot of time their opinion can be summed up as "This thing is good and correct, because it agrees with Me"

Idk if you've seen recently; but Masahiro Ito (The creature designer and art director of Team Silent) has been going off on all these video essayer types and all their dumbass fans that parrot what they say about SH2 on twitter. It's genuinely been so refreshing to see a Japanese creative really push back against shit like this, especially since a lot of Japanese creatives adhere to a very non-confrontational, more passive approach to things like this. I was already a fan of his, but I love the guy even more now lol.

And yea, to be honest, the backlash the later games get from SH Elitists, be they Homecoming and Downpour or Bloober Team remakes and F, are a prime example of proof that they haven't actually played any of the games, OG 2 included.
Look, I love the original Silent Hill 2, but the Bloober Team remake was honestly the most addictive horror game of its respective year. It's okay to be a fan of Silent Hill and love both the Team Silent tetralogy, and the current Revival era, because to treat the former on a pedestal and the latter as the antichrist is not very flattering and proof that you don't know what you're talking about and haven't played any of the games. It's like the Fallout fandom but for the horror artform.

i still remember giving genshin a chance and finding some videos about "why X unit doesnt work mechanicaly" and because i was diging the game went to check it out.

and i thought "oh wow there must have been some deepshit going on with this character huh."

NOPE, every! single! video! about this started with that because otherwise the genshin fanbase, that clearly dont have the capacity of basic understanding, would just harrass you to no end.

Dark Souls, not as bad, but they are too proud on their games being seen as The Hard Ones that any legit complaint is responded with a Bible of how you must Git Gud

League Of Legends, oh don't get me started, when an all-female group was formed, some playe5rs went on their way to /8*-be as mysoginistc as posible, i played the game once and the amount of slurs over simple mistakes could be writen in walls filling a entire home block

Pokemon Fans, their cult.like devotion to recieving increasingly worse games are the reason Mainline games are gettign staller than a opened soda left behind for a day

Smash Bros will decimate you if you as much as claim Melee isn't that good and demand Sakurai to overwork himself with their delusional requests

What? We were making fun of Nintendo gamers so hard the little N gamers there are was lying they play Sega Genesis instead lol.

For example the world's first and oldest activist group called "parents" is the reason why age rating existed. Even the situation of Mortal Kombat ban shook my country, people were like trying to preserve Mortal Kombat arcade machines and console games!!! Shit was serious yo and they could have ban such games for good but I'm surprised they found a middle ground lol.

As for censors, Japanese games are always censored due to parent complaints. It wasn't too different from now TBH, sprites of female characters were would be change to hide pixel sense of they have breasts and one pixel that means "panty" here and there. Also in my country parent complaint was very powerful enough to shut down some arcade places, then they found a way to seperate "kid friendly" places with "teen friendly" and "here there are only gore games yo" SMH.

I beat Origins and Shattered Memories and they were both just okay at best. There's no denying there was huge drop in quality after the original quadralogy, and generally speaking I don't want to play a new game labeled Silent Hill developed by yet another random Western team.

BTW, as of this writing, I'm actually in the midst of interacting with a Church of Jake Wesker member, who roams these forums, shall go unnamed, and is actively misrepresenting the RE series as a whole and validating my hatred of their kin and why I inducted them in this thread.

Yeah, I like Homecoming and Downpour, and I'll happily play the revival era, but there's no denying Silent Hill lost its oomph after 4: The Room ended Team Silent's tetralogy.
