Basically, yeah. This is an excuse for us to complain about the worst fandoms we've encountered for a video game ever. No, we're not including political loons, because everyone is aware that they're scum.

I'll start by adding my two most hated: The Last of Us Part II and Resident Evil 6 (aka. The Church of Jake Wesker as I call them). RE6's fandom have got to be the most delusional, terminally online, and obsessive apologists I've ever seen for a despised work of fiction like RE6, often overhyping the game, insisting that it's either "a bad RE but good action game" or that "it's RE at the next level!!111" and insulting and harassing those who, like me, rightfully despise it. They're not actual Resident Evil fans (I genuinely think they've never played any RE other than 6) and it shows.

Last of Us Part II's fandom is interesting as, a year after the fallout from the game, The Last of Us fandom at large had moved on to greener pastures, leaving only the pretentious, smug video essayists and self-righteous stans behind. The end result? A massive headache that turned Part II from the despised guilt trip that it was to the single most overrated piece of software ever developed.

Sorta agreed on the weird turnaround for Part 2, happens a lot after the counter culture calms down.

Basically, people had no reason to care about what happens to Abby Anderson because they despised her adventure's guts (and the character herself for being a truly disgusting designated hero), so they moved away from The Last of Us franchise. And once they moved away, the terminally brainrotted people raided and took over the fandom, dedicating their lives to praising Neil Druckman's nihilistic claptrap no matter what, even misrepresenting the game prior and its main character, Joel Miller (who Abby kills in Part II's opening act) to make it look like he was a bastard who deserved to die... when if you've played The Last of Us Part I (ESPECIALLY the original PS3 version), you'd know that not only did Joel do nothing wrong... He was 100% RIGHT in doing what he did in the game's final act.

It's annoying whenever this happens, but it's expected since the saner people move on from trainwrecks and find something else to obsess over.

I’m conflicted, I personally don’t hate Part 2, but I’ll take any given chance to clown on Neil, that bugger.

It's not the best game ever made, or one of the best rpgs ever, or revolutionary; most of its fans never or barely played a game from that genre before

And for how many yt channels milked it, the plot is not that complex
Even Toby Fox himself stated that Undertale was his homage to the Mother franchise. It might be worth a play, but it's not that deep nor is it that revolutionary.

Fallout, only because if you say anything about liking Fallout 4 online you are immediately bombarded with an essay about why Fallout 4 sucks and New Vegas is the greatest game ever made and you are an idiot if you don't agree.

Fallout 4 is awesome and I like that my guns don't break after 3 shots.

True. It’s a game I had fun with but not one that makes it worth dedicating your life to.

Yup. I feel I had fun with it in my two playthroughs.

Exactly my situation right now. I love fallout 4, but don’t care deeply for NV so I know I’d get bombarted with essay replays with that kind of take.

I would say I never seen a fandom that´s not good be it game, anime, cars or books or anything people are just A-holes the lot of them.

But the worst of the worst dregs I would say.
Nintendo
Final fantasy
Genshin and their love for lolis and their Yaoi and Yuri shipping so fucking sick of it. "they are all sickos"
Zelda "sure goes in nintendo but still zelda fans are special breed of morons.
Call of duty
LoL
Vtuber fans are special case of sickos and pedos.

• Most Nintendo games
• Sonic
• Genshin (or ANY Hoyoverse game, really)

Its mathematical formula is like "video games that attract teens" + "popularity" = Toxic Community.

However the toxic level of the fan community depends on how edgy the game is so its formula is:

ToxicΔ = EdgyΔ (As the game that is popular among teens is edgy the more its fan community is toxic).

But it may show how toxic the fan base may be but it's not enough to show the negative nature of the toxic community because it depends on three factors: The game's violence theme, sexual theme and simple gameplay so its mathematical formula:

ψtoxic ∝ ⟨Violence∣Sexual∣Simple Gameplay⟩ = Primitive and therefore hostile stupid fan base = The nature of the toxic fan base

For example:

- Fortnite

- Roblox

- Overwatch

Eh. I loved TLoU 2 on release and I still love it now, miserable descent into emotional cruelty and fantastic action game that it is.
Go on handwaving away people that do or don't enjoy things in ways you disagree with as arrogant or pretentious or sheepish or plain dumb or whatever though. People online gonna be people online.

No matter what fandom, there's always going to be a contingent of highly vocal, either highly exclusionary or highly defensive and irritable people. The more niche the topic, the greater that number.
Being a fan of something is great of course, as is voicing that enjoyment, but I'm not a fan of insular fan communities in general, they turn into echo chambers way too quickly.

Any indie game that reaches a certain level of popularity will always without fail attract the worst, most insufferable types of people you can imagine. Undertale, Deltarune, Mouthwashing, (As much as I hate to admit it cos I loved the game) Pizza Tower etc.

Geshin Impact
Toby Fox
The Last of US
Fornite
Heckdrivers (yeah my friend had a horrible experience playing with the toixc people)
Roblox (I guess)

I'd say Pizza Tower. It mostly consists of kids and teenagers but there are some really perverted people, both from the teenagers and the small portion of adult fans. There are some other problems but that's probably the worst one

I wish this wasn't true. I wish terrible people were attracted by equally terrible games

I return to this vid once in a while to remind myself of how Nintendo fans behaves
