Basically, yeah. This is an excuse for us to complain about the worst fandoms we've encountered for a video game ever. No, we're not including political loons, because everyone is aware that they're scum.
I'll start by adding my two most hated: The Last of Us Part II and Resident Evil 6 (aka. The Church of Jake Wesker as I call them). RE6's fandom have got to be the most delusional, terminally online, and obsessive apologists I've ever seen for a despised work of fiction like RE6, often overhyping the game, insisting that it's either "a bad RE but good action game" or that "it's RE at the next level!!111" and insulting and harassing those who, like me, rightfully despise it. They're not actual Resident Evil fans (I genuinely think they've never played any RE other than 6) and it shows.
Last of Us Part II's fandom is interesting as, a year after the fallout from the game, The Last of Us fandom at large had moved on to greener pastures, leaving only the pretentious, smug video essayists and self-righteous stans behind. The end result? A massive headache that turned Part II from the despised guilt trip that it was to the single most overrated piece of software ever developed.
