seen a lot of fellow artists on here, I think it’s fun to work on art with others so what are you all working on?

Personally I’m doing a redraw of an old piece.

That old piece looks so interesting, like it's own aesthetic
I'm also working on something! Like the comic…y'know?
Here's the progress

At work during my lunch i tend to doodle on my sketchbook. This is what i drew during that time. Not including what i study after work.

Hey your artstyle here is fairly similar to what I tend to draw. I really like this.

A question: how do I use a reference?
You put at side and try to take notes or do something similar to the image or art you’re using as reference, or try to replicate some aspects of it.

A question: how do I use a reference?
As in how to start or what kind of reference?

For starting, I think you should avoid tracing and create your own style. That way you can either make or invent a new artistic look

For reference though, maybe a pose of a person, models (whoever is in the picture). Avoid the complicated one, start with the simple and easy pose instead. Hope that helps ::dkapproves

Slowly building it up, also got side tracked with other things

I find it’s kinda like making a collage, example some refs I used for the current thing I’m working on. look at what you want to draw and mentally cut out the bits and pieces you want to use

Depends on what you want to get out of the reference. You could try and copy the subject matter of the reference like I did with my drawing. You can use a grid for that if you want to get really accurate. I don't like tracing because I feel like I'm not exercising my observation skills. But you could use a reference for an example on how to shade, or use it to inspire your line work, or to copy the color scheme. There's many ways to use a reference.
