Wolverine's new lame trailer

Ah yes, the obligatory Marvel/Hero typical Sony serving.
So glad to have my PS5 around still.... now I wait with baited breath for another incredible overly expensive first party movie game starring another main protag who travels around with a family member so they can constantly bond together down forced slow-walking sections and then sprinkle it with unskippable cinematics everywhere and then PlayStation would have made some form of 'effort' toward this year.

@iamthemilkman i think straight line action games are fine as long as they come alongside a gameplay focused mode for those who want more, i.e. bloody palace in DMC, or a more recent example the tacsim in 007 first light.

Where is the gameplay?

Also no physical no buy [Not like I was going to buy it anyway] ::goblingrin
Ackchyually, the game is releasing this year, so it does in fact get a physical release. In any case it looks like most standard affair Sony thing ever.

The linear nature of the game keeps my interest low. I had sort of imagined/wished you could wander the streets of Madripoor as civies Logan. Or being headmaster at Xavier's like at one point during the Wolverine and the X-Men comic era.

Except the X-Men doesn't exist in this continuity. It already makes me feel something's off...

As mediocre as this game looks... I think the "movie game" critique of the overhyped sony games is a tad overblown.

Never in any of these games did I feel like there was not enough gameplay even if the loop wasn't particularly engaging. Most games have scripted sequences or lots of dialogue. I enjoy stories if well made or atleast entertaining. I am an RPG fan through and through.

It's less that these games don't contain enough gameplay and more that absurdly large amounts of production go the cinematic nature of these games. Be it Hollywood actors, animation, etc etc. You gotta see the peach fuzz on character chins, or those muscles flex! Oh, and our main character has to be played by someone famous, of course!

As an example, take God of War 2018. Most reasonable people would contend it definitely has plenty of gameplay, and if that gameplay is good or not is up for debate, but it's certainly there. But... how much money went into that whole one-shot camera style of the game where there's absolutely no cuts? It's cool, but what difference does it actually make? Think about Ragnarok or Laufey. They also share that continuous shot but it's not new or novel anymore, so who even really cares? Yet resources continue to be pooled into aspects such of these which in turn contribute to the massively inflated budgets of modern game development.
