Wizardry became very popular in Japan, so some games were ported / remastered for SNES and other consoles. Wizardry VI and VII were released in English on PC first, then were ported to Saturn for Japanese players.

This patch uses the DOS English script to patch the Saturn version into English. There may be some other differences that make people want to play the Saturn version.

I highly recommend you search The Repo for other Wizardry games, after Sir Tech stopped making Wizardry games, various JP developers licensed the IP and made their own Wizardry games, some of which have been translated from JP to English.

great! i can't wait until this gets uploaded to the repo so I can try it out :)

Sega saturn shiro article here:

Has anyone here gotten this working? When I run the patcher I get as far as selecting the path for building the image and entering meta data but the patcher just closes without creating anything.

So SSP crashes when you select "Build Image", correct?
Another person had a similar issue and solved it by using an older version of the tool (they're all here), although they never specified which version worked for them.

Not exactly. It just closes after either entering meta data or proceeding without doing so. I’ll try an older build though. Thanks!

Turns out to have been user error. Got the patch working just fine now.
Glad you managed to get it working! Out of curiosity, what was the issue? Could be of help to other people should they get stuck for the same reason.

Once it got to the metadata screen, I didn’t see the back arrow icon. I just entered the fields (or left them blank) and clicked Add Meta Data, which closed the program. Clicking the back arrow actually saved the new disc image.

Sweet, had a lot of fun with the SNES version. Will definitely check this out. Thanks for the heads up!

Is the patch itself still not yet inserted and added into the repo?
Just noticed it's on Myrient under 'T-En Collection', if you or anybody else is still looking for a prepatched image. It should be easy to find.
