Will we ever see a new Wipeout game again?

Probably not. Sony is super super profit driven now. Almost like their greed is on steroids now. They won’t make something unless it either already has massive brand recognition, is entirely risk-free and low enough budget or has a giant blockbuster vibe to it. Basically we ain’t getting a new wipeout unless sony could find a way to make a tragic dad sim out of it which is rather funky.

We can just play the new F-Zero instead. Or all the other upcoming Racing games from beloved franchises that are not dead at all...

It might already be on the cards. The new crazy taxi seems right around the corner and Yakuza constantly references outrun.

I never played the wipeout main series on the psone. Wipeout 2048 was my first game on the PsVita. I still play it from time to time. It's surprising to me how much of a dedicated fanbase this game has.

Sadly not likely, but on the bright side you've got people making their takes on the concept. The names are escaping me at the moment except for Redout, though it might be closer to the newer F-Zero games.

Especially around the time of the movie's release. Hooboy.

Honestly? After seeing Strife out all games getting remade, I'd never consider an IP as truly "gone". Not anymore.

Psygnosis...they deserved better. Sony keeps renewing the trademarks but no developers have been active with them since 2012.

If your are looking for a active Wipeout style game then BallisticNG is worth a look.

Probably not, like most Sony franchises unfortunately.

A big comeback of the antigrav racer genre should be made.

Karting has had its fair share of time but I miss arcade experiences.
Fast Fusion came out this year and is pretty good, but it is a Switch 2 exclusive.
There is also Aero GPX which is still in early access but seems promising.

I think indies are all we can expect to get from the genre.

Yep, that's the sad thing about it but in a way the S2 barely has exclusives so it's either that or make the S1 still go on.

You should also check Lake Feperd's XF Extreme Formula which is similar.
