Image this, it’s a boring 2008 summer night at your grandparents house, pretty boring I know but you have a Wii, so why not play something, but for some reason you open up the forecast channel, the channel your grandparents use, and this tune blesses you ears
You decide to scroll for a while then you open the globe menu, you view all of the city names on the digital globe before you close the channel and play some New Super Mario Bros Wii alone. It’s now 2025 and your grandmother has passed, it’s a sad time and your grandfather has passed two years ago, before the house is sold your family rummages throughout the house looking for old belongings of interest, you don’t find anything you need tho but before you start the car, you see someone throw out a white dvd player, knowing that streaming services have been getting expensive recently you decide to take it but as you pick it up you realize that it’s actually your old Wii, the one you have since then forgot, but the games have been scratched and discarded of in 2011, this is the first time you seen it and on the way home you stop by a goodwill and find a working copy of New Super Mario Bros Wii, you plug it in at night and the sounds of coins and bah bah bless your ears, a month has passed and you try to play your new copy of Mario kart Wii online but it doesn’t work, so you look up how to play online and change the internet connection to the new online code, but instead of playing MKW you open up the Forecast Channel and the song that you heard many years ago blesses your for the first time in forever.

Nah I just wrote it while listening to the Wii Forecast Channel ost and the song linked is my favorite one
When the wii came out I was in high-school, so gaming kind of took a backseat for me in place for more social stuff. That being said if it wasn't Soul Calibur 2's character select as the background noise going for hours, it was the forecast channel.

That's some good creative writing there, kid-o.
I thought it was a tidbit from the past. Well done. I'm with @Stingy Perry on this...
It could turn into a neat little story, though you may want to put a disclaimer on it stating it is fictional creative writing, however, so as not to confuse anyone

I’m really proud of this piece of writing! I have always been better at making short stories then reviews, always have been anyways have a wonderful day or night captain Zerp and ima take a shower.

You're not alone. I spent a decent amount of time just moving the globe around in the Forecast Channel, that nighttime music captures a certain feeling many things still can't. The News Channel was also something I regularly messed around with too.

I know its so small, but part of the Wii's unique charm for me was turning these otherwise mundane tasks like checking the weather, into neat little applications to play around with. Wiiconnect24 is just a very small part of the Wii, but it really did give that extra "oomph"; Forecast Channel, News Channel, Everybody Votes, and Check Mii Out are unironically great little pieces of the Wii that I love revisiting every now and then. Oh yeah, and the music is very nostalgic! ::terriermon-happy
In case you didn't know, there's a service called Riiconnect24 (I believe it's called Wii Link now?) that restores the functionality of these channels, and more, so you can use them nowadays.
