Random Why would a pharmaceutical company create weaponized giant spiders?

Hmm, yeah, although in the modern day I think this would be something the health insurance agency would come up with.

Reminder that in the first game there was Crows too, some of them really hate when people fail to solve puzzles

Just ask good old Forest how that ended up

Because that's the most sensible thing a pharma company should do, the fact that we ain't got none of this is proof that science is still at its infancy and we fail to ascend further in regards to scientific achievements, every countries are being gaga over nuclear weapons, boring!! Where are the super soldiers program, huh? Or irradiated giant lizard that shoot lazor from its mouth? We should have progressed further beyond that, I hope the younger generations can have a scientific breakthrough over B.O.W. in the future as a viable alternative to nuclear warfare.

They probably had some spiders hanging around the lab & said why not... but where did they find a gator!?

The dog zombies and the spiders is simply the phases in which they tested the virus to allow cells that are degraded to renew, before moving on to humans and more specialised strains that led to the superhuman Wesker type, with the unfortunate side effect of zombiefication before refinement to allow a subject to keep their sanity and intelligence. Baby steps of the live testing variety.

The resident evil writers were nothing if not actually relatively realistic and coherent with the virus aspect of the story within resident evil as it went along. It's one of the reasons I actually love resident evil. It has it's silly moments. Almost everything does.

Im sure that every main character of RE questions where everything came from and why their luck sucks so much that they need to take care of them in sarcasm and snark mode

You're not really supposed to think of any of it that hard, but the base reason of "Some of the experiments got out of hand but generally speaking they were hoping to have more direct control over the creatures" works well enough as justification.

Because Umbrella is a shinning example of the Dunning-Kruger effect would be my best guess.

is that something you were born or trauma related? Never met an arachnophobe before.

A trauma. There was this big spider when I was 4 I think, that just hung around the wall all the time near where I was playing. It just sat there and its presence gave me a horrible uneasy feeling everytime I played.

Insensitive cretin! Spiders get sick too, they would obviously want medicines for them too! /J

I had the same thing with bee's and hornets. I got stung once, and I would freeze in fear if I see one buzzing around me, I even would get scared of walking on grass when I was 8. It wasn't until I was 13 that my friends father took us to a bee farm and found out that bees arent so bad after all.

I used to jump whenever a spider was near me, but after being a gardener for a while... bugs don't bother me anymore.

*waters plant, notices giant spider on my shoulder, brushes it off without flinching*

To sell the cure. Duh.

When I was a kid I used to crawl under tables and chairs, well one time while playing hide and seek I hid under a table only to find a dead spider the size of both my hands together, right above my head.
While picking berries in our backyard in the province I found myself surrounded by webs and spiders the size of a mug.
And in school there was a section of the facility where they disposed of unused and broken chairs, and you guessed it, it has a million spiders living in there, it always disturbed me seeing dead spiders hanging from the corners, and I knew they were dead, one of them even had a wooden stick stabbed through it.
Then in high school, oh boy~ I woke up to find a spider the size of my hand... inside my fucking hand.
It also happened with a cockroach and a centipede at one point.

I'm in my 30-40 now and I still get nightmares of dead spiders raining from the sky.
