Random Why would a pharmaceutical company create weaponized giant spiders?

I was watching my friend play Resident Evil and it dawn to me. Why did Umbrella create giant spiders and other normal animals but made them larger? Wouldn't any .223 or .12 gauge make mince meat on these things? Seems kind of useless to invent, same with these zombie-like abominations.

What was the point of making virus dogs if its just the same as a regular dog, but now it can't be controlled? Seems useless imo

They wanted to make cotrollable BOWs, the dogs were probably just baby steps for reaserch and development before they eventually got to making the tyrants.

I believe all of those are just accidentally created like when they manufacture something there will turn out to be a defect i always believed their successful product was the tyrant but since they was harder to produce there was a bunch of defect and as greedy corporation umbrealla would always choose profit which is to sell all of those. But those dogs are overpriced indeed.

and as for the zombies like bioweapon well they all was actually just a freaking after effect of testing the bioweapon.

I'm one myself but I didn't get affected by them in game.

As someone who has a friend in the mechanical design department, i can tell you all what he told me:
"In most if not all of the science fields in the history of mankind, an accident is just another phase for success"
The purpose was not making the giant spiders, that just was a byproduct of experimentation, and wih that accident came the success of a new product, see RE9 and the fucking BEHEMOTH that was on a bridge, set one of those loose in a living city, and if can't take the city, might as well be the perfect diversion so any PMC can do their work just fine in the chaos.
