Why some translations and romhacks are never picked up?

Hi.
I know the title may sound self-explanatory, and i know the possible answers:
- the romhack/translation did not pick the interest of the contributors of the site
- the contributors are busy people
- it was considered not worth sharing on the repo.

I don't intend it to be an inflamatory post.

But i have many romhacks / english translations (that are niche and can't be found easily), that i have shared many times on the forums, and somehow are just never picked up and put on the repo.

And then you see some gimmicky game have 1 post created and is instantly picked up. The forum for sharing stuff seems a little meaningless at this point.

How do i become a contributor?
I guess that's the only way i'll be able to share my stuff on the repo, since it seems to be a matter of opinion-based grab on what's worth sharing.

Hi! I think the most honest answer is that they may get lost in the shuffle — I know it sucks to hear, but Curators also go through their personal 'Most Wanted' lists when updating the site, so it's possible that whatever you post - which I have no doubt is good and very much worth sharing - may not be seen.

Some translation/hacking groups are also not cool with their stuff being hosted and/or shared by third parties — it's rare, but it happens.

I guess what I'm trying to say is to be patient. But campaigning for your own stuff is never a bad thing... Bump threads if you need to. It's not a bother, and it may actually help.

See ya!

It amazes me how many games did get a translation. I wish I could thank all the awesome people who did it. I've been waiting on Akazukin Cha Cha SNES RPG for years but from what I read a long time ago, it's something to do with how the text in game is implemented.

Nothing like extracting a prepatched zip file and seeing "don't download a prepatched version" in the readme.

Right? Reminds me of when you'd go on to an Abandonware site, download the game, execute it, and find out that it had been modified to name a different site on the executable XD

This reminds of Sigma Harmonics in the DS, because the text is vertical-oriented. They said translating Full Metal Daemon Muramasa would be almost impossible because of the same issue, but it got translated eventually. One can always dream, right?

Same for Boku no Natsuyasumi.
The vertical layout needed hacking to be re-oriented to allow horizontal reading.

Mushishi on ds also has vertical text for menus, so they translated it side-ways. An understandable compromisse, as the normal text itself was horizontal (i think)
