Why some people spoil newly released games in thumbnails?

It's even worse when a game is released only in Japan (if not getting leaked earlier) and on Twitter or anywhere else that could be safe they tell about stuff like unrevealed features if not final bosses.

Showing a final boss in the thumbnail is also quite a low blow.

I believe some individuals deliberately include spoilers in game thumbnails to increase views and engagement. These spoilers, often images of key plot points or boss encounters, can attract attention and encourage clicks, even if the viewer is trying to avoid spoilers, as people will click to see what the image is about or to criticize the content. This tactic capitalizes on the human tendency to be curious about what they shouldn't see.

Ragebaiting as well.

Bad buzz is still buzz after all.

Shouldn't it be a bannable/strikeable offense?

If not, just allowing a way to blacklist/hide stuff could've been better.

Because they're assholes that don't care about other people's feelings and experience, they only care about people noticing their content, liking and subscribing.

I wouldn't go as far as saying a-hole (I prefer keeping that for those who genuinely harm people irl) but you're entirely right about that they don't give a darn about others and only want the easy views.

And notice how the format is almost always the same (the same 4 parts square + a circle in the center).

At least darken or make a silhouette of the antagonist or something...

Don't want to harm others that mean others harm? Fuck that. That's hippie behavior.
Well I'm not gonna just bend over and take it. I ain't goin' down without a fight.
And if you want to stay standing at the end, your best bet is to strike first, not last.

Edit: I remember how Kirby: Planet Robobot got out in Japan before the west and since the 3DS has region lock I couldn't even get it earlier in import.

Then someone had the nerve to not only show the final boss' look but also the surprise third form which references one major character from Superstar for the old time fans as well as the secret boss from the extra game which is a reference to Dreamland 2 that was an even bigger spoiler.

I'm sorry but I had that motto about "not lowering oneself to the level of the other" to be right. After all the pen is still mightier than the sword.

Violence isn't always the right answer and honestly if you replicate with violence it would also bring you into troubles (or broken bones).

I've learnt that some are expecting you to replicate the shot just so they could report/fight you back even harder.

And if you want to stay standing at the end, your best bet is to strike first, not last.
If you've struck first that would basically give them the excuse to either replicate or reporting you while acting as the victim. Not the best idea.

Digressions aside at the end of the day it's merely a video game being spoiled, not someone who stole money, made false accusations nor other worse things. Punching someone over a game would be childish at best. I'm just telling how those people are just rude for spoiling the experience to others, nothing more.

spoiler alert: at some point there might be a new mario game

On the other hand, even if 99.9% of the time Bowser is the final boss of the new Mario game...

I still don't wanna get spoiled about his look during the final battle, thank you.

As much flak 3D World had and how it was inferior to 64 and Galaxy 1&2 I still found it both funny and surprising to see Bowser having a cat form.

Spoken like someone who backs off regularly, regardless of who's right.

Who said anything about that? I think you are seriously misunderstanding the point..

I am not talking about a "fight" here.

I'm sorry but what have I done to you?

I'm not actively seeking conflicts and I think that it could go against the forum rules to fight with other members.

As for who's right when it comes to something subjective where two parties have opposite point of views you cannot really do anything than take your distances.

I'm not "fighting" anyone here, just saying that a complacent attitude leads to people walking all over you. I am trying to teach you not to be such a pushover, because that weak attitude will be taken advantage of by any predatory types who happen to take notice.

I digress; stay weak if that is your decision.

I just don't think it's right to spare these types of people from their accurate accusations; they are crass, uncouth individuals who don't care about the other gamers in the community and are not ideal to tolerate and allow to continue ruining things for everybody else.

Yes, those individuals are being rude but what I'm saying is that having a disproportionate reaction to that would basically make you the aggressor while they'd become the victim.

Don't forget that a bully's behaviour is to do smaller scaled attacks just so it would ruin your day without actually hitting you in front of everyone just so you would lose it and start to make the first blow so they would come complain about getting hurt by your.

Also I think that actual weakness is to lose your temper. Mastery of yourself and not succumbing to basic instincts requires a stronger will (like fasting or learning to get bored).

You're the one having an aggressive behaviour: we're merely a video game (among other nerdy/geekish hobbies) online, not a fight club.

No, that is not how that works.
Calling someone on their shit does not make you the aggressor/instigator.

Please make sense. That whole paragraph had no point to it.

If I poked you in the face really hard, would you eventually get mad?
Getting angry over something doesn't make you the one in the wrong.

Now you're making it about me. Stop that.
We're on the same side in this discussion.

Why would you even do that? Normal adult behaviour would be about politely asking someone to stop it and not going full fight mode right away. That's why communication is important.

On the other hand getting angry over something would make people believe you're the one being the "bad person" in a story. That's a normal social behaviour to prefer to be with the person who appears calm or sad than the person who appears angry.

Anyway, spoiling is rude and Youtube should do something about it by either changing thumbnails or allowing to blacklist specific tags.

Welcome to internet and mankind! :D

This thread is kind of "me against the world" like Scott Pilgrim.

Every single human being that wants to get some profit from another human being will act "merciless", regardless on how much pain it causes to you, and at the end of the day the justification will be "money". Otherwise most of the issues in this world would disappear, and tons of profit with it. That can't be allowed, you know?

As long as that premise is clear, understood and even so we want to still living in this world, then there should be no issues of having spoilers here and there :)

The point is that there are things that would get anyone angry, and righteously so. And that doesn't make you wrong for feeling that way.

Also I agree about the spoiler tags.

You sound like a greedy corporate CEO. ::huhsonic

Maybe some people would rather experience the game for themselves rather than have it unexpectedly spoiled by some person's Youtube video? ::huhsonic

Or at least wait a full month, not something only jobless people could achieve.

(Nothing against people without a job but it's harder to see the end of a 40+ hours long campaign when you have a "8-9 6/7" kind of job. It clearly shows that the person has a ton of free time).

I also wanna listen to an OST without having a "this game: all bosses including the secret ones". That should be simple.

There are many things in the world that should be punished and yet it is not. Worrying about something like that is pointless nothing will change anyway. Your question in this thread is justified and good but nothing will change, that's just the way the world is.

I am not, but I know what is the reality of this planet and humankind. Marketing was invented for a reason, and you don't want to go against it because you're going to lose the very moment you start.

That's why my advice for the OP would be, accept it and continue with your life, or get pissed all the time until the end of history. Because every single person in this forum will be already dead for natural causes, and there will still exist people like the OP is complaining about.

Way to justify and support the unjust! 👍
You should write a book or something.

There's one thing I agree with KiKai there is that letting it be could probably let worse happen.

As the saying goes:
"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."
