Why isn't Square and X normalised for action and jumping?

My argument is that controllers are literally made for gaming, whereas keyboards are designed for communication and data entry; the aesthetic is made to input various letters and not hold multiple buttons simultaneously for game controls, making it an ill-conceived method of playing a game. The gamepad design is literally custom-tailored for gaming, you can't get better than a device created for this very specific purpose.

I spent way too long thinking "does Square (Enix) use X to jump...? That feels like it's wrong, but I'm not into their new games." Turns out that's not what the thread is about, so joke's on me.

playing games on a keyboard is just plain wrong
I find keyboard controls way more precise if there's no analogue input, or if its sensibility isn't important.

Also mechanical keyboard allows for multiple buttons to be held at the same time.

It's not the most comfortable way to play on a couch, but otherwise it's usually the way I prefer to play.

Need sensitive mouse controls?
Use this

Best mouse I've ever used, it's faster, more accurate, and has left-handed accessiblity!

It absolutely is. Like calling R1/RB and L1/LB the shoulder buttons
Or those people who play Kaizo Mario but they use their fingertips for the buttons instead of their thumbs.

LB and LT confused me.

Also L3 and R3 because I didn't know it was the joystick click.

Oh I HATE 'LB' and 'LT', shoulder and trigger confuses me too.
That's why I just call 'em L2 and R2, it's what I grew up knowing them as thanks to the Playstation.

they know but japan isn't the entire world so to hell with it.
Sure, but also USA isn't the entire world, so to hell with it too :). Sadly, game industry didn't took the path of releasing games from Japan to Europe first, then USA. If they did, we could have saved many awkward stuff and censorship :(

Playing an FPS with a controller is just plain wrong.
THIS.

Because human mankind is unable to give in. Otherwise, we all would speak the same language.
Technically we're still standardising stuff for the majority of humans around. It is what ergonomics is all about (such as why light switches are near doors or why we got handles on many appliances).

We still have a common language ancestry in Europe and Asia.

Yeah, we adapt things for most of humans because companies need to sell. But languages are a very different thing, people understand them as barriers they need to cross, so they want them as easy as possible regardless if that makes it harder for others. It's simply human behaviour and culture teaching in 95% of the world countries: you're more important than the rest.

We don't need to go to that way back, only about a century has passed since Esperanto language was created to ease our "language pain", but the result is that less than 1% of the world population speakes it.
