Random Why does no one talk about Valkyria Chronicles?

The fact that VC 4 sucked and that VC 2 and 3 were only on the PSP probably doesn't help. Oh, and there was also this abomination:

Valkyria_Azure_Revolution.png

I do want to try playing this abomination someday, but not even the emulator (of vita, i don't think i can run ps4) wants to run this thing.

i don't know if VC4 sucked, but it is certainly very inferior to 1.
(but is better than VC 2, at least).

Also, i think this thread is in the wrong subforum

The story of VC 4 was weak, largely because of a lame protagonist and his obnoxious love interest. If you look strictly at gameplay you could argue that VC 4 is better than the first one, but the story killed it for me and even without VC 4's improvements I think the first game's gameplay holds up really well.

i agree with you, both history and characters are very bad in 4.

but i plan to replay it someday, ignoring all cutscenes and skiping all dialogues.

The first game was great the second game also good. I can´t speak for 3 and 4 yet not played them.

But I think the deal is no one talks much about it because some moron decided 2 and 3 would be on psp and that 3 should not get any translation at all and Valkyria Revolution was not that popular sadly.

So Blame Sega most likely their fault.

It basically suffered from the same issues as Sakura Taisen. As in, the fifth game killed its momentum permanently. :loldog

Really should've made VC2 sequel about the mass-produce Valkyria like Aliasse or change it to the fresh EW1 setting instead.

Why?.
VC1 on PC platform.
VC2 on PSP, sorry to say that but I hate everyone in this game, I buy a PSP because this game and no one is a good character here.
VC3 is a only japanese game from the franchise, there are a English patch (Spanish patch have more content translated).
VC4 launched for PC platform with more than 10 years gap from the first one, and it's the fourth, people is stupid, if they saw 1 and 4 this confuse them and confused people don't buy or care about a product even if it great.
And the game is a niche game, great games but I don't see the mainstream public playing this saga.

It gets a lot of love within JRPG spaces but it was inevitable that it would fall out of public consciousness. Back in the early 2010s it was far more relevant since it was consistently getting new releases, but with 1 of those games being handheld sequels locked to Japan (unless you used the English Patch) it quickly lost some steam. Then it came back with a controversial action spinoff title that has its fans but didn't really do much to revive the series to any level of relevance. Chronicles 4 was certainly nice, but it also came out 7 years ago and I know many people who were interested but decided not to pick it up since Revolution left a negative aura around the Valkyria brand and the "4" branding made people confused when they couldn't play 2 or 3.

I think if Sega released a 2 and 3 remaster pack globally in more languages and then did a remaster/current-gen patch for 4 they could definitely pave the way for a VC5 to make a mark. SRPGs are back in a big way thanks to Fire Emblem being more popular than ever. Final Fantasy Tactics is getting remastered, Triangle Strategy was a hit etc. It has a unique setting and style to it to really give it a tight niche within the market. In the 7th console gen this style of game was wrongfully viewed as outdated as everyone became convinced that action games were the only path forward. But right now it seems like the perfect time!

All we can do is cross our fingers and hope that Sega sees fit to capitalize on what they have.

have played 1 to 3 and still have all 3 games on display in my collection
all 3 are great and amazing games

i think the main reasons no one talk about the game is that the second and third game was released on psp and in many countries ps3 was more popular than psp
and that the third game was only released in japan

i have not played valkyrie chronicles 4 so i can not say anything about that game

I do plan on playing VC3 at some point on my PSP emulator. I have an English patch and I've heard people say it's really good. I haven't had a chance to play any of the PSP ones.

I do remember that i bought Valkyria Chronicles before even having the PS3. i liked the anime this much (i can't watch it again after playing).

I think i replayed it 5 or 6 times in the PS3 and more times when it comes to PC. it is a really unique gameplay, sad that the blitz system weren't used in other games,

and again, isn't this thread in the wrong place?

i think 3 is the best one... along with 1.

1 have best gameplay because PS3 is way more powerfull than psp.
3 have the best characters and history.

Many people lambasted 2 due to its shounen battle academy setting but honestly I think it's a decent followup from 1, it's not like the first game's story is that amazing really. And when there are just a little romance drama, the worldbuilding 2 gets after the events of 1 is real tight as well. And honestly the characters are also quite memorable IMHO for a cast full of military academy novices.

Valkyria Chronicles was a hit game when it made it to the PS3! Amazing, hyper-stylized graphics that managed to make a 3D anime game look GOOD, amazing turn-based combat that does a good job at rewarding careful positioning and risk-taking, and a story that's captivating front to back. The voice acting to! For 2008, it was phenomenal.

But outside of old YT videos and forums dedicated to the game, you just never hear about it. And any chatter about Valkyria Chronicles 2 is DEAD, and god-knows it ain't getting a remaster. Poor PSP.
I think it's an amazing experience and I wish more people knew about it.
nobody really talk about it because valkyria is frankly a turn-based medal of honor rpg for the the 19th century...

im sorry im too coo-coo for PSO2 puffs.
