Why do people put Kirby as some powerful entity?

I play Kirby games my whole life, and not once have I seen him going about destroying galaxies or doing universal level feats like some users on the internet claim he can do.
The most he face can be beaten by convential elements like fire, ice and even weapons like whip or rock. He gets defeated and taken immense damage from apples to waddle dee tackles. So why do people held him in such high regard?
Unless you count those minigames where he cracks a planet in half, but would you consider that canon? Those or more like jokes then actual things he has done in-game. There is some instances where he will duplicate himself to upwards of 3 in the victory screen so would that be considered canon as well?

Honestly? The fact that he can absorb enemies and master their abilities in an instant makes him extremely OP in games like Smash.

He's kinda like another pink blob favorite: Ditto.

Kirby can devour any opponent to obtain his/her powers. If he face any god-like entity, he can eat it and become god-like itself.
Yeah, but he can't absorb huge enemies and he takes 1 fairly large hit; he loses that ability. Also he can only use 1 ability type, so if someone has multiple abilities than he is at a disadvantage.

Kirby was born as a star warrior. Kirby has an unlimited stomach that sends the enemies to another dimension, destroyed a bunch of gods, can break a giant earthquake that can break a planet in half, and many considered him as an immortal being.

It's his "God-like" physique.
Nothing is impossible for a being with that kind of physical prowess. ::winkfelix

Yeah, but he can eat that lost ability represented by star to aquire it again. Also he can eat whatever you trhow at him and use it against you. Moreover, he can choose from variety of opponents to gain power that is best suited against any obstacle he encounter.

I mean... The dude can inhale just about anything, has literally fought demonic spirits multiple times, and he is strong enough to destroy his entire home planet (as seen in "Megaton Punch" from "Super Star").

Who WOULDN'T consider Kirby to be one of the strongest video game characters of all time?

If I recall correctly, Kirby game over screens have him going to sleep, not die, while yes, he did murder Marx, among others, how many games have you played? In multiple he destroys a planet, in others he hits a meteorite really hard, go watch Kirby lore in youtube it's really cool.

He's like an alien who is pretty much indestructible and has saved a planet and probably the universe multiple times. Sounds pretty powerful to me imo. He might be smol and cute but that doesn't mean he's not a badass entity that could probably fuck some shit up pretty bad if he wasn't one of the good guys

How are people scaling Kirby here? People here don't realize that most of his enemies get defeated by standard stuff like a yo-yo or punches and kicks, maybe a suplex. How does this work with the scaling from the mini-games like what Scotty exampled "Megaton Punch"?

By that premise, every single character in any videogame, regardless of its power or nature, can be stopped by some random things, such as rocks, doors, trash, cars, windows, etc. Why people stablish that some characters in videogames are incredily powerful if they can't simply climb over a wall of 1 meter tall?

Is this a random post that ends with answers not making any sense? :O

The games are hyper cutesy and silly, but has some off the wall lore involving space gods and other eldritch abominations. And Kirby just kills them.

I think a big part of it is people are insecure about liking Kirby (because it's a franchise aimed at children) so they latch onto any implied 'deep lore' they can see so they can go 'LOOK SEE, KIRBY IS ACTUALLY REALLY DARK AND DEEP TOO. LOOK SEE HE IS AN ELDRITCH ABOMINATION AND LOOK IN KIRBY'S DREAMLAND 3 WHEN YOU FIGHT ZERO AT THE END OF THE FIGHT HE RIPS HIS OWN EYE OUT AND CHASES YOU TRAILING BLOOD AND IN KIRBY 64 ZERO TWO SHOOTS BLOOD AT YOU AND HAS BLOODSTAINED WINGS TOO. IT'S DARK'

It's just complete insecurity. I'm a massive Kirby fan myself, it's probably my favorite Nintendo franchise. It having some implied darkness (again IMPLIED - hell most of the alleged dark or deep lore Kirby has is just like...barely even implied and it's people filling in the blanks with their own interpretations) or Kirby fighting a villain that is implied to be 'scary' for a children's game means he is some uber powerful god is so cringe.

He's like 0 years old and baby, what are we even doing here.

Same as Goku or Jojo characters ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Oh, no, I like your answer better. It's exactly the same reason people show off the Pokemon Adventures comics with that shot of Blue's Charmeleon slashing an Arbok in half, because they can't accept that they like something childish, so spend all of their neurons re-writing history to make it seem like you're the one in the wrong for rolling your eyes at them. Because your the one who's missed something, you're the one who just doesn't get it.

Kirby is fun, Star Allies is my favourite for having some really robust movesets for it's hundreds of playable characters. I don't need to justify dick about why I'm playing it, I'm enjoying myself. I don't need to try and tell you all of the dark implications some of the plot beats have, especially considering how unimportant they are.

I like bright colours and having fun, and going on adventures. Therefore, I like Kirby. End of Discussion.

He very easily fits the bill of being some kind of minor eldritch horror... just a really small & adorable one.. ::heart

Why does he "die" to silly things in his(?) games? The same reason why other effectively immortal comic book characters like The Hulk and Wolverine can "die" in the games that they're in..... It's a VIDEO GAME!!

Both sides of this debate are taking it way too seriously.. ::sadkirby

Same. Star Allies intro is very wholesome and I love it. I like that Kirby can be a mix of cute things, and crazy lores

I think Kirby is way more powerful than the gameplay of the his games suggests. Like him losing an ability by a single hit is probably more of a gameplay mechanic to make the games feel the level of difficulty they do instead of a real indicator of how strong Kirby really is. Like previously said he might be immortal/indestructible since he's just shown to be asleep in game over screens, and him just getting like a little k.o. animation and knocked off screen is also for gameplay too. Kirby games are easy enough as they are without making him feel OP. I've never watched the Kirby anime or read any of the manga series based on him, so I dunno how strong the lore in those make him out to be.
