Why are the Anime Community being Sensitive about anime became a Mainstream.

On the subject, I miss when pdfs were considered a decent filetype and not used as a slur in lieu of 'pedophiles',
Unfortunately major corporations have consistently demonetise and throttled the reach of any user made content that openly uses the term "pedophile".
As online platforms prioritise appeasing sponsors over raising awareness of child abuse.

Hence pdf. Terms are transformative.

I or some one else will inevitably mention a certain aspect of the LGBT+ Community who have both a track record of abuse & hiding behind anime profile pictures.
Excuse me? ::huhsonic
And that would be far less of a harmful generalisation than assuming every one regardless of sexuality or gender who watches Japanese animation is an child abuser.
That's not what I said, that's stupid; there's a type, and some people are able to recognize those kinds of patterns i take it you're not one of those people.
And from breaking the no politics rule because you have one foot on a landmine.
And what exactly do you mean by that?

It's fine with people who are okay with letting the goverment, media, and corporations dictate and determine what you talk about in your own free time ::cirnoshrug

Actually, definitions are solid and sound. They are concrete, and while people's incorrect slang usage of them may or may not persist over time, the actual definition will remain solidified throughout history.

such is the state of the Internet now that it has become mainstream and regulated

people so fried by tiktok and youtube's shadowbanning they forget how to act normally on sites owned by a guy instead of a corporation

Nothing to say for yourself, huh?

Shut up

All I can add is this: ignore the fools making asses out of themselves about this. This attitude isn't new, and we've seen his with other media, mediums, and genres. Promote positive interactions with fans or fandoms the best you can. At the same time, don't waste too much time on people who refuse to change, or act like constant assholes with nothing better to do in life.

I admit I don't interact much with the anime community anymore, but it had nothing to do with anime going mainstream. Most anime I am not interested in, and funny enough, even during the big flood gates of the late 90s and early 2000s, I only watched what interested me. I did watch a lot of anime, but at the same time, there are plenty of anime I either chose not to watch, or I didn't have the means to watch them. Outside of pirate/free streaming sites.

The last new anime I watched to completion and enjoyed are New Panty & Stocking in 2025, and Ninja Kamui in 2024. Both gave me exactly what I wanted for different reasons. Ninja Kamui especially I love, because it's a early 2000s action anime throwback I dig the hell out of, and respect it. As you get older, you learn that you're not always going to be interested in "everything" nor "what everybody is doing it or watching it". I am more than satisfied I learned that the easy way in anime, and gaming especially.
