Who would’ve thought that one tiny update would enrage many people.

Game is already a downgrade from MK8, with pointless fluff added onto it and overall design just being worse in general.
Absolutely not worth the 500+ moolah you need to shell out to have the "honor" to play it.

why is doug bowser a bad person?
Continuously helms a lot of vicious needless legal attacks on harmless fan projects

Refuses to credit anyone who worked on past games or music in newer games/media

Fired and blacklisted an employee for bringing up the idea of a union to him because in his words it "made him sad". Said union was because under his watch NOA employees were working in such bad conditions that literal moldy garbage from the 90's and more was just laying around the space

Very likely played an integral part in the 80% games thing

Bro is just a soulless corporate robot who exists for nothing but to make money no matter the cost and I'm sick of Nintendo fans giving him a free pass just because he has Bowser as his last name and shook hands with Reggie.

I thought you where talking about brawl stars at first.

People don't seem to understand that the "Intermission tracks" are basically drag stips and Mario Kart is known for its 3 lap courses with different shortcuts and drift points. People have every right to be upset since the game at is core is a course racing game. The intermission tracks are dull and uneventful, its a good reason why people will complain about them. I played Super Mario Kart World and those tracks are boring asf.
Ill be upset too if the only way to play 3 lap courses was via random and now that Nintendo removed the chance of having a 100% to 24% the game isnt worth playing online for a small chance of fun. Just stick with single player or 8 Deluxe at this point.
TLDR. OP hating on people who have to right to complain about a feature in a game. He probably doesnt own the game either or played it

Thank you for talking sense.

The boring-ass intermission tracks and open world gimmick are exactly why I passed on this game despite loving the IP. I play MK to play an arcade circuit racer, not whatever insipid, overpriced crap Nintendo knows its ravenous fanboys will swallow down. The criticism is warranted and OP is going to have to deal.

On the other hand, anyone who bought this game and thought Nintendo wasn't going to do something stupid down the line needs the reality check.

Again, the criticism feels very nitpicky and trivial. I don’t even mind the intermission tracks. It doesn’t even look like that big of a change to me. This feels like another excuse to hate Nintendo. Just like when they changed DK design and Peach’s face, some people flipped the fuck out. MK8D randomly changes the engine class during online matches and nobody cared about that. You may think I’m defending Nintendo, but I’m not. I just think this isn’t anything worth getting mad over. To me, this is a very small change. It’s not like they completely take away the ability to select courses.

honestly i don't mind the intermission tracks since the game only has like 16 full tracks anyways, compared to MK8s 48 (+48 dlc pass so NINETY SIX the game was massive)
that's not even counting modding, where you can get MK wii with every track from SNES to 8DX, including arcade and mobile

Just another excuse LOL. Ironic.
Defending a billion dollar company on the grounds of "well it doesn't seem like that big of an issue to me personally so I won't bother listening to your criticisms". People are allowed to (and should) expect efforts to be made to increase the quality of their games not an effort to increase the sales of those games. If your response to every bit of valid criticism is just "eh nitpicking" then what do you really think you can offer to the conversation?

Guy literally said he plays the game and it's fluff and annoying - bruh take the word of people playing the game

As a Switch Pro owner (calling it a "Switch 2" is disingenuous on what a "next generation system" is), I side with the complainers. MKW has essentially three play styles:

1. Lap Courses - These are the classic lap courses everyone is familiar with with involve a great deal of tricks, obstacles, shortcuts, drifting spots, and and your typical racing "mental engagement." If you know Mario Kart then you know these courses.
2. Drag Strips - Generally straight line races with little variation littered with boost pads and non-racer traffic. Nintendo attempted to spice it up by tossing a few things here-and-there to spice the races up (power lines and walls to drive on, trucks and boats to drive into to temporarily control, etc.), but ultimately these races are mind-numbingly boring af.
3. Open World - Accessed from the title screen directly...you just drive around looking for randumb challenges to complete that teach new players how to perform some of the stunts "Power Pro Players" use, ? blocks to activate, and costumes to unlock. It is bloody boring, even for a single player experience, as there is no racing, no battles, etc. You...just drive. That's it. That's the mode.

The lap courses are fun, engaging, classic, and challenging as you jockey for position while item-wheeling from mid-pack to snatch victory from that guy up-front who seems to ninja-dodge everything chucked at them. Classic mode with classic strengths & weaknesses.

The drag strips are bloody boring that almost no-one enjoys racing on. There's no variation, there's no excitement, and it suffers the exact same faults of the classic courses with absolutely none of the benefits. These are a downgrade and mockery of previous non-lap courses like "Mount Wario". It's the video game equivalent of driving the interstate through Kansas:

Now, if you were paying for the Nintendo Online to play Mario Kart online...what do you want to race on: Sunshine Airport? Or Kansas? That's why they're pissed - no-one wants to play the boring crap any more than they absolutely must. The "drag strips" are the racing equivalent of grinding in a JRPG. Enter "drag" jokes here.

I can't play as my favorite character anymore either

That's a fantastic point that I didn't even remember to make. Nintendo has already made engaging non-lap courses in the past: Big Blue is another example. These intermission tracks are just lazy.

Are the colors gone? I remember seeing him on the character select screen but I don't use him.

Eh ... while the outrage is a bit too much , the update isnt an actual improvement overall what ive seen and heard .

But never mind.

I believe the colors are gone, yes

Basically, it makes the random option in Online include “intermission” tracks as well. And the Mario Kart elitists didn’t like it because they think it “ruined the game”.
I feel like there's WAY worse things that could've happened

I don't own a Switch 2 (and it's possible that I never will), but people are right to be pissed. Imagine paying 500 dollars for the bundle plus the online membership only to be forced to play in a unorthodox mode you don't want to. What happened to being able to choose in online games? Just make it a separate mode.
