Yeah Im talking about the recent update for Mario Kart World. And I think people are just highly overreacting and exaggerating. They claim the intermission update “killed” and “destroyed” Mario Kart World. I don’t think so. I don’t think it’s a big deal at all. I feel like this is just an another excuse to hate on Nintendo. Those people just hate change and love to complain. The complaints against the update is like complaining about Link being right handed instead of left handed. It’s stupid.

Oh boo hoo, don't like the game the way it's presented? There are millions of racing games out there. Calling them "intermission" tracks makes no damn sense to me at all; they are regular, dynamic, tracks inbetween locations which further pushes the idea of this being in an open world even when you are not in open world mode. It's honestly engaging and thrilling and I love the variety ive been seeing especially when Im playing on line.

i think the only qualm people have with the intermission tracks is that they are mostly straight lines, right? otherwise i think people generally enjoy them
i do not have any experience with this subject

What was the update?

Basically, it makes the random option in Online include “intermission” tracks as well. And the Mario Kart elitists didn’t like it because they think it “ruined the game”.
Oh so those are like the "loading" stages that i've seen complaints about. I mean that's lame, but I get were you're coming from. Probably like a trash can fire rolling through sewage in other spaces, I'm guessing

I swear, people would complain about anything these days.

That's the dark side of the internet, I guess.

If it really bothers that many players, I'm sure Nintendo would roll it back?

But I imagine folks will probably just grumble about it and then move on. Idk, I haven't played it yet, so I've no idea how much these courses add/detract from the experience.

I prefer my Link left-handed. ::huhsonic
What's wrong with consistency?

Also it seems to have taken away voting for the players to be able to choose the game style, so.. What's the point of this thread?

That's honestly the annoying part. Much like with the pricing discourse, there were complaints and all that jive but the console still sold out. I'm sure people are still going to play it despite the same thing pretty much.

That's it!? What's bad about it I don't understand, your still racing on a track right?

Am I missing something because that doesn't sound bad?
I thought it be something like idk "it makes the game crash" or something. That's what people are mad about?

I mean; if Nintendo took way a feature (even an unintended one) the player enjoyed, they have a right to dislike the situation and complain, as long as things do not escalate to actual violence and/or harassment, you can be pissed off with unwanted changes to a product you bought. I do agree that saying it "Killed" the game seems like too big of a hyperbole (PS: I have not played the game, will only if i ever can get it cheap somehow)(PSS: It's also understandable that only hearing those exaggerated statements in discussion spaces is annoying and unproductive, and @Frickinfrik is right to be annoyed by it)

It sounds like a dumb update just to take an option away from players but I haven't played Mario Kart World (and probably won't until they come out with the inevitable Switch 2 OLED or Pro or whatever). Anyway, this is just a symptom of ragebait culture and Nintendo is an easy target right now (which they brought on themselves to be fair). Fifteen years ago people probably would have shrugged their shoulders and said "well that kinda sucks". But that kind of reaction doesn't drive engagement metrics.

Okay that sucks a little lol! I guess for me it wouldn't be a complete deal breaker. Maybe they should have just made it an option in the settings in case players wanted that.

What im trying to say is, the complaints about the update feel very nitpicky and trivial. I don’t see anything majorly atrocious about it. It’s not like the game is completely different now.

People gonna complain and nitpick about features in games anyway; at least here the example seems to be for good reason other than minor issues unrelated to gameplay or quality.

Every time Nintendo updates a game to fix bugs and glitches and somehow adds something else like a character getting nerfed or Online loading times which would lead to a connection failure, that would cause fans to outrage instead of just enjoy the game.

Meanwhile, Apple would have constant system updates and no one nitpicks about the changes after updating them.::cirnoshrug

LMFAO people are rly sayin that?????

Literally my ONLY complaints with Nintendo are Doug Bowser being a supreme scumbag bastardface and the game pricings being too much, literally everything else with the game itself and the hardware looks cool.

ISTG MFs can't be pleased by anything nowadays. We've seen this already with them treating DK's design as a downgrade when he's objectively more expressive and appealing than he's been for over 20 years now, and claiming Doom the Dark Ages was ""wOkE"" because it added customizeable difficulty settings💀

I don't like Nintendo as a company, in fact I despise them and will not buy the Switch 2 with it's current pricing in an economy where rich CEOs are bleeding the common man dry like the parasites they are, but IMO there is nothing wrong with the software they're putting out and I don't think we should be shaming people for enjoying the games.

The games aren't the problem here, it's EVERYTHING else around them.

Man's got 'skeevy' written all over him; I honestly think they only gave him the job because his name's "Bowser".
