Once I got lost in the first Dragon Quest...
oh yeah very possible, i beat the first dragon quest WITHOUT saving the princess the first time.
and barely any torches, i went dark through caves (just moving till i hit a wall by the bump noise it makes)
Any game that gives you side quests/detours.
Any game that has a map that needs to be revealed by wandering around will always lead to me playing for a couple hours just trying to fill in all the missing places.
Ikr?! every corner of the scenario/dungeon/house has to be checked to avoid missing important stuff or even a little fistful of grass, that i will never use BUT you never know what you will need in end-end-game
i'm crazy about this kinda stuff, map isn't fully filled in i'm flipping around!
Skyrim was large enough that i did a on-horse travel across the entire map, no fast travels, around the outer perimeter of the entire game world (non-dlc)
it took me a bit over 12 hours, JUST the outer perimeter, then i filled in every spot in between and marked all possible locations found,
my game was at 40ish hours and i literally JUST was after escaping from my beheading at the start, i stole the horse from a knight. i advanced NONE of the main story in that time.
...does it surprise you i didn't finish the main story? and i put 200 hours into it.
now that's not the WORST sidetracking i've had in a game
anyone who's played Xenoblade X... yeah you already know...
if you don't, look up what you have to do to COMPLETELY 100% it, like everything EVERYTHING done.
i spent over 100 hours i'm sure, and wasn't even halfway through the story! i was max level!!
if i recall the game said i was 20% overall completion in one of the menus.
let me tell you, when i unlocked the FLYING mechs I explored EVERY DAMN WHERE!
i can't think of a game with a more expansive map size then xenoblade X.
oh wait, there's elder scrolls daggerfall for MS-DOS
