I think the long cutscenes will always be a topic of dispute in the gaming community , God of war games for example get criticized for this "cinematic" or movie approach they went with in 4 and 5 , some people just want to play without ever giving a damn what's the story or who they are in the game or anything like that you can't change these people so just add a skip button to your cinematic game.

I personally like these cutscenes like MGS1 after a sweaty boss fight the long cutscene that follows it allows you to chill a bit and rest while you are presented with more story.

I'm kind of very open minded to everything in video games whether its slow paced or fast paced has a story or not as long as its fun and well polished and well designed I'm sold.

Absolutely. This should be the norm for every game with cutscenes, and should be available on the first playthrough. GoW4 and 5 both have their issues, but the cinematics are very well done in both games. I think God of War 4 is brilliant tbf. It just needed Kratos' to get angrier.

Yeah MGS games are like the gold standard for cutscenes for me. Obviously not every game needs a tonne of cutscenes. Some games are so immediate that all you really need is the gameplay loop and you're set. But I've always leant more towards games that aren't just "score attacks" and I feel like cutscenes are a big part of that.

From what I have seen in 4&5 kratos kind of tries not to get overly angry we see what happens in the heimdall fight if he loses himself to that rage again part of it is because he doesn't want to hurt his kid in the process I mean in the greek saga there wasn't much people on his side most of the time.

It kinda depends on the game if it needs a story or not an RPG needs one more than an RTS for example.
