Yeah I'm right there with you on that one. All I really feel like adding is, at least here in the U.S., a lot more could be done for troops returning home than there is.

Avoiding that can of worms though, anyone have any songs ear wormy enough to never leave your head? This little number has been stuck in my head the last couple days.

Whereas in the past this would have bounced off, my 2025 brain has rotted enough from goofery that this remix shot into an open hole and is bouncing around infinitely. Anyone know where to find more "Vaporwave remixes of Daft Punk songs using retail commercial TV sale lyrics" songs? Kind of a specific niche apparently.

As for drugz, I enjoy having like a third of an edible sometimes on a weekend night. Anything more than that and the feeling of time distorting is so great that it's hard to ride the wave and enjoy it. I'm definitely a lightweight, especially compared to my super stoner friends. One of them will have 100mg of weed edible a night, and it's like...why? What does it even do for you at that point? Mushrooms are also quite fun as a rare treat. That said, I could never do any of this stuff again without feeling like I am missing out. Same with drinking.

Is smoking/drinking/drug use a potential deal breaker for you? I hate cigarettes so that would be a no go for me in a partner. Drinking and weed are fine as long as it's not every day and a priority over other things. That said, I wouldn't date a smoker and expect them to quit, seems unfair to put that on someone since it's their choice.

If we’re still talking about burgers, I’ve tried In-N-Out on a NUMBER of occasions and have been thoroughly disappointed every time. The real good ones are Checkers/Rally’s you goofballs, their fries are ORGASMIC!!! I can’t believe more fast food chains don’t offer spicy fries.

I’ve never had Whataburger, but I know a guy in Texas who eats pretty much exclusively that, so it’s on the list whenever I visit. I also had a very, very good experience at a Shake Shack several years ago.

Also, Johnny Rocket’s, while not terrible, is very bland. I’ve never been to one of those things as an adult, but I imagine that brand exists purely as “experiential dining”.

In n Out is fine for what it is. It's not worth waiting an hour in line for, but it's better than most fast food burgers and like half the price. I usually eat there once or twice when I visit Southern Oregon. I'd go to Whataburger all the time if we had them here so it's probably better that we don't. I also think Five Guys is massively overrated these days. Good burgers but way too expensive for what it is.

Someone said that Burger King doesn't flame-grill their burgers anymore, is that true? If so, what do they have to offer anyone at this point? A worse, imitated version of McDonalds?

Dang, all these US burger joints have such cool or interesting names, Johnny Rocket's, WhataBurger etc. We don't have any of that this side of the pond. Just the odd Sgt. Peppers, Wimpy or Burger King. Oh, and a whole load of Maccy D's

Culver's is a pretty good burger place in the States if you have one nearby. It's a Wisconsin chain.

Our burger chains suck in Canada, too — in fact, they’ve pretty all gone out of business, these days. The only one that survives is called Harvey’s, which is absolutely fucking abysmal. Our fast food options are so dire in this country.

OH MY GOD, WAIT, I FORGOT!!! Our version of A&W, which is completely different from the American one, was a cultural institution for many years. I haven’t been to one in ages and it probably sucks now, but I have loads and loads of nostalgic memories of being there with my family. I always wanted a Root Bear plush.

I’ve only had Burger King once in my life, many years ago in university, and I remember them tasting like the burgers you get served poolside at a hotel. I can’t imagine what their competitive advantage is. At the insistence of a friend, I also got their chicken fries, and those sucked, too.
