Which video game was your first impression of the PlayStation family?

For me it was Battle Arena Toshinden on the PS1.

Crash Bandicoot 2. Must've been Christmas of 98, maybe 99? It's not as if I was old enough to be TOTALLY blown away by the jump to 3D graphics - as far as my kid brain was concerned, all videogames were high-tech magic worthy of awe. But what I do remember is walking away from the game at some point and coming back to find Crash shivering... and that stoned me to my 6 year old soul. I'd seen idle animations in Sonic and, idk, QUACKSHOT?? but the fact that I could see this little orange guy's BREATH because it was so cold in his video game world...that felt deeply futuristic to me. That's when Sony got their hooks in me.

I had to think hard about this one, as my sister had a PS2 and some random games. Gran Turismo 2 feels like the first one I played.

First one I owned was the PS2 version of Ty the Tasmanian Tiger, followed by GT3.

You mean Sony exclusive? I started with crash. After that, I surprisingly didn’t experience many Sony 1st party games on ps2.

After that, I picked up uncharted on ps3 and it was… a video game.

That would be crash bandicoot 2 my step brother used to have a ps1, man that was a mindblown experience, i wasnt that much intro gaming when i was a child, but after that... oh boy.

I was looking for more games like this yesterday, after playing dynasty warriors and bushido blade recently I wanted some more weapon based fighters so thanks for posting, I forgot all about battle arena toshinden!

First game I played on a playstation console was need for speed 2. They had it set up at the dentist in the waiting room. Best dentist I've ever been to, lets you listen to your music while they do their stuff (it's not like I'm in a position to make conversation anyway lol).

Dad ended up buying one maybe 6 months later. First 3 games we owned came as a bundle deal with the console: gran turismo, tomb raider, abe's oddysee, and somehow we ended up with a large stack of demo discs too. I had a great introduction to the console imo.
