I wanted to have the experience that I didn't have the money for at the time. I always wanted this console, a PS4 or an Xbox One, but I wanted to play the game Splatoon for the first time, the classic version.

The first retro console in my current collection is the DMG Game Boy that I never got rid of.

I grew up with the Family Computer. I also had a Sega Mega Drive later on. Sadly, we no longer have either, but I bought the mini versions when they came out to help fill the void. I also have handhelds that correspond with the consoles that I have nostalgia for.

There's not much else that I desire at this point. I still have some of my older consoles in storage (PS2, Wii, DS/3DS, Xbox 360, etc.), but emulation and PC ports fulfill all my needs.

I’ve technically been collecting since I was born, since I never threw away any of my electronics. That said, I started taking it seriously around age 12 or 13, when I bought my friend’s original Game Boy and then an NES at a game store in the same week. I consider that the true starting point of my collection!
