I know Japanese so I don't ask for myself but when people ask for game recommendation it sucks that I can't just recommend them Japanese games that has no English patch whatsoever. For example a significant part of PS1 game library is Japanese games that has no English patch and I have no idea if they ever have. And then some games have so sucks English official patch I would kindly for better fan translations lol.
- That being said for example Initial D parody game series that people drift with trains Densha De D does really need an English patch 4 sure. People missing a lot of humor here.
- My beloved street racing RPG series Zero4 Champ only have one game's fan patch but it's not even the game I would recommend in the series. The series has way better games.
- Kenka Banchou games on PS2 just too fun to ignore. Life sim elements and great humor + beat 'em up is a good mix for me.
- GachiTora! Abarenbou Kyoushi in High School is a game for its sense of humor worthy to play.
- And my beloved Koukidou Gensou: Gunparade March, I can't tell people it's more than a "game". NPCs literally living their own life beyond scripted events. The game is more than what I can tell, and then they praise for "Persona games are the first on such school simulator gameplay" because they don't know about how deep Koukidou Gensou: Gunparade March was... me cry hard!! lol
Sadly translating old games is hard. Not hard because Japanese -> English translation but hard because of how game uses a method to display these texts. Mostly as pictures to represent letters and using order and coordinate system to tell the game when and where a particular letter has to be displayed. It makes translation hard and sometimes make you find the way to adjust the game itself for English translation. If it was simple and not so time consuming I would translate my favorite games for sure, but then even creating English font can be problematic. This shit is beyond me!!!

*drama over 9000 moment* lol.
