Which Is The Better JRPG Game? Bravely Second End Layer Or Final Fantasy V.

If you can emulate Saturn, opt for it instead for Ogre Battle.

OB64 is placed right after it. Tactics Ogre is also plot related but plays entirely differently. For Tactics Ogre you want PSP. Knight of Lodis is a prequel to Tactics Ogre.

Edit: The PS version has an ugly font and terrible performance, it's not just a matter of content.
thank you for the comprehensive list of the games to play!

I can run a Saturn emu just fine, so I guess I'll go for the Saturn port ::peacemario

Tactics Ogre has almost nothing in common with Ogre Battle other than certain characters with same names, like Canopus, Lans etc... but if anything its the prototype for Final Fantasy Tactics

It's excellent, really. You get loading only on the initial boot up. The PS version loads for every battle, and missions are long so... yeah you can imagine, right? The sprites also look better on the Saturn, both on the map and in combat.

Mechanically no. Plot wise, the connections are there. That is to say, they aren't just chuckle cameos, it's all connected.

yeah Ogre Battle 64 takes place later and its one of the only ten or so games I like on the N64 up their with Sin and Punishment, F Zero X, Bangai-O, the N64 version of Mystery Dungeon/ Shiren the Wanderer... but it plays a bit differently yet maintains the overall style.. but I dont think the soundtrack is as good and the art isnt as good imo... but it was during that whole pre rendered fad of the era

Geist, I might very well just fall in love with you, You already had me at Sin and Punishment from our conversation yesterday but ... Bangai-O? Badump, badump ... ::booshy

Are you gonna say Extreme-G next? Cause that's one of my absolute favourite games on the N64 too

I actually think the music quality of OB 64 and the graphics are quite comparable, one of the few pre-rendered games I can look at without automatically feeling repulsed by it.

The connections only truly hold cleanly through certain endings (the same problem SMT has, really), but I don't remember the details. There is a YT channel called Warren Report that does a great job explaining it all, though!

I love this game so much and is why I'm so blindly obsessed for futuristic racer games, the bikes themselves feels like something Syd Mead has drawn too

Just one more note. The reason Ogre Battle is called Episode V is because the saga ran for much longer, since time immemorial, but no games cover Episodes I through IV, even though lore exists for them.

i havent played bravely second yet so i cant speak to it but I really liked ff5 and the first bravely default games, but between those 2 i would say ff5 has the better story and bravely default has the better battle system, the brave/default system is a more fun compared to the atb system imo. And if I had to pick one, I think bravely default's job system is better.

I feel like comparing FFV's story to others where they're completely serious in tone is a disservice to the harmonious blend of coffee that FFV is, it knows when to be rich in flavour for serious moments
Galuf's last moments kinda got me real good ...

But it also has been peppered with a healthy dosage of sugar for a creamy and very fun aftertaste of amazing, light-hearted moments and pure joy

I love FFV and is probably my favourite in the franchise. I love that blend of comedy, insanity and serious moments. I love it when my turtle has a dragon ball fight with that cursed evil tree ::eggmanlaugh
I to preface what I'm about to say to state that I mean this in the best possible way: I think ff5 is like a saturday morning cartoon that I would watch as a kid. It has silly moments and serious moments. Its overall an adventure story and I really loved it for that. This is kinda a weird comparison but its a little bit like Ben 10 in that it can have both scenes of The characters goofing off and or straight up getting into fist fights with each other while also having very emotional moment like the spoiler you mentioned. overall a really great and complete package.

what episodes are all the games that do exist for it then. I played tactics ogre reborn and know thats the furthest in the timeline but thats really it

I enjoy both games but feel like Bravely Second has a crazy spike when fighting bosses. They all have a ridiculous amount of health and take too long to fight.
