On a side note, Breaker's Revenge is an absolute beast of a game.
I said "Street Fighter 2 wannabe" the first time I played it, but after a few matches with friends Breakers was all I wanted to play, such a good game.

"Street Fighter wannabe " is 100% what you think by looking at the game. We definitively all thought that.

What's funny about the game is how fast you realize how different it is from it's inspiration. While still absolutely looking so similar. Ryu wishes he was as crazy as Sho.

He looks like the young ideal kid, then you find out he's got like half of Akuma's move list. Air fireballs with a super option to cancel into, wild stuff.

If we're speaking nowadays, Street Fighter. KOF feels like it's been stuck in time with their last two or three games, they play way too similar.

But as someone who's played both during my entire life, it's a very close tie. Both series are very up and down as far as releases go. Just like people still play 98UM and 2002UM, there's still people on 3S and SF4 to this day.

For me it's gonna be SF because I'm a Capcom baby and never grew fully accustomed to the "feel" of SNK fighters. However I have friends who are better at FGs than me and they feel the exact opposite. I think it depends on what you grew up with.

Also, calling FF/KOF an "SF ripoff" doesn't fly anymore. They've invented so many new mechanics and features over the years that they're roughly as important to the development of fighters as Capcom.

I prefer street fighter overall. Especially thanks to the Alpha trilogy. Alpha 3 was and still is the fighting game I always come back to. Oozing style, great pixel work, music and the fighting system was the perfect balance of classic street fighter but also fast / explosive. Ariel recovery, ground recovery, alpha counters, different "isms", combo system which isn't heavy on the memorising input chains... However, if counting Garou Mark of the Wolves as a part of the KOF games (which I do), then I'd say at their peaks, they're close to equal. Mark of the wolves, with its tiny roster, manages to be as good as any fighting game I've ever played and I doubt the reboot will be better, but let's see.

I've been playing some fighting games through Fightcade, but mainly SF3. I honestly prefer Street Fighter. I found it more simple and beginner-friendly and the game brings me some good memories. I also prefer it because of the characters. I love the personality of any of them and sometimes I even feel connections with them and I start imagining them talking while fighting. But I also play KOF sometimes and I plan to play more SNK games.

I love Breakers/Revenge - I main Rila n Condor n wish the Breakers Collection on Steam had comp on it at any given time. I used to play ppl on Breakers Revenge via the pre-Fightcade app/client 2DF [RIP]. Fightcade was a disappointing successor at first but over the years it apparently is ironed-out n beasting since long ago from what I gather.

Sho is almost as OP as Bai-Hu. Saizo is borderline-OP. these are IMO n arguable ofc

n Sho possesses a super air-firebaLL, but not a special one that can be used without meter. He also got Gouki's dive-kick command-normal, yes ^_^

Edit: and also, the Breakers games aren't so much of an SFII wannabe as much as they are SF-Alpha wannabes. the SFII wannabe was Data East's Fighter's History (n to a significantly lesser extent, Fighter's History Dynamite/Karnov's Revenge)

Mark of the Wolves is at the top of the list I made on this thread of all-time fav fighters. if City of the Wolves is at least comparable in quality to the last 3 KOFs I will be happeh with that. I'm just glad Fatal Fury is gettin its 1st entry since 1999. a 4th Art of Fighting is probably a vain hope but I'll hope anydamnwey but not whilst holdin meh breath, mind you xD

...and did somebody say KOF95 better than SF6 (???!) - I mean, I got issues with the rosters of these current-gen modern 2.5-D'-ers... and I <3 KOF '95 dearly... but I'm not auto-cynical towards modern fighters by any defauLt n SF6 is an absolute surprise of a triumph in my eyes n is certainly more balanced than say, the stiLL-godly 3rd Strike n makes a strong argument for best 2.5-D fighter *e v e r*, but ofc - teh each their own ^_^ a good 50% of the existing KOF games are a fine choice for favorites in any case

It's a tough one. Overall I think I prefer KoF but it's pretty close. I just prefer the four button control scheme over the six button. I dunno. I'm not the best at fighting games and I find it easier having fewer buttons to think about. Also I prefer the characters for the most part.

KoF has always been Street Fighter's weird little brother. Street Fighter Third Strike is a deeper game than any KoF game ever made

Personally I prefer the gameplay of Street Fighter.

KOF has a host of titles I enjoy as well - namely 98UM, 2002UM (that roster!) and KOFXV. Special mention to Garou Mark of the Wolves; that game both looks and plays like a dream.

I find that I tend to enjoy the system mechanics of SF slightly more, especially the parry system found in 3rd Strike.

Bro, I'm Mexican, It is in my very genes to love KOF, it is within my blood. If I don't screech and holler whenever I see Angel or Ramon on screen, I'm denying the destiny my ancestors paved for me. On the real, I just think KOF looks far better (classic games) and has infinitely more sauce to them, thought I feel 3S and Garou really stand apart from the rest of their respective series, almost transcending them.

In the end I had to vote Street Fighter for Third Stroke even though I rather play KoF over any other SF besides 3, Third Strike is just peak for me. I have high hopes for the new Fatal Fury game coming out though

I'm on the Street Fighter side. I've grown up playing the Alpha series, 3rd strike, Marvel vs Capcom. I like it a lot, but won't say it's better than KOF, cause i've played very little of it(didn't enjoy as much SF) and it all comes down to personal preference.

Street Fighter is cool and i like it till SF5 came out and im done with this Franchise .

But KOF blew me away as a child with its roster , move-sets , story ....
and especially the Waifus ::smirk1.

I liked SNKs games much more overall , while capcom had some awesome and cool IPs that could be their new huge franchises , they forgot them quickly and are afraid of money out of a sudden.

Ken Masters is alright but Terry Bogard is way much cooler overall and even asks his opponents if they want some snacks (Fatal Fury 1) and even their health status . What a real bro !

KOF for me. Have the AES carts of 94 and 96. Still have KOFs on PS 1,2,3,4. Still going nowadays with XV.
