I wanted to know which fighting game series people preferred because alot of people tend to split depending which region like the USA is street fighter while KOF is preferred by many in south American and asian territories. I don't want to so im looking forward to your responses and personally I love the 2d street fighter titles while I prefer the kof series more in other words I prefer Kof.View attachment capcom-vs-snk-pro-game-cover-altar-of-gaming-351.webp

as much as i love chun-li, and street fighter 2, i also prefer king of fighters, specifically for athena asamiya. my favorite fighting game goes to doa though; i love how simple it is to pick up and play, win or lose

In Europe I experienced that Street Fighter is preferred, KoF is/were hardly known.
As I myself only years later discovered the KoF series, and at first sight I didn't see what's so special about it, other than the huge roster. Later I realised that KoF is easier to hét into but harder to master and also more "precise" than SF (maybe except the Alpha series).
All in all, later I more preferred the KoF series and it's spinoffs like SNK vs. Capcom.

I'd say both series are great. Early on Street Fighter had an advantage with SF2 being better than early KoF entries but as both of them reached their peak in late 90s/early 00s things evened out I'd say. My favourite among them has been Capcom vs SNK 2 for years now. It's a shame they no longer make crossovers like that.

I'm in the Both Catagory, i like both Equally Well. Blue Mary, and Chun Li, always my picks

this is a tough one as I have too much history n experience in the scene during 90's n 00's n then there would be a yet another overly-elaborate wall of text n I'm tryin to keep the paragraph-blaster set to 'Off' atm...

both equally from most standpoints, but it varies at very specific junctures, aspects, and breakdowns of specified criterion. but if anyone wants to run some Street or KoF - I probably have every one to date (and most fighters in general) on Steam n I can play to win or play for fun, whichever suits the opponent, occasion, or preferred game. I probably fare better on Arc System Works games overall but I have no problem throwin down on even the ones I'm weakest at - a close fight with maybe some memorable or amusing moments, win or lose, probably makes me happiest in any given play sesh overall

To me king of fighter so much more my Jam. The new King of fighter XV just been pure blast and has a large roster of charters. Street fighter 6 is good but honestly KoF much more fun.

If I had to do a top fighting games I had most fun with.
1. King of fighter XV
2. Arcana heart 3
3. Granblue Fantasy: Versus
4. Dragon Ball Xenoverse "I don´t have the second game"
5. Jump force
6.Soulcalibur 6
7.Killer Instinct
8.BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle
9.Persona 4 Arena
10. Vanguard Princess
11. Street fighter 6

Granblue Fantasy: Versus is wuts up. only got to play Rising online once so far even though got it a year ago - undefeated so far but don't wanna go back n get taken apart by a pro xD jk doesn't mattah the fun is most or all what counts

thumbs up for KOFXV, SC6, KI (hey I'm not a fight-snob KI still has a unique fun n charm to it!), CrossTag, P4A, SF6 is big for me rn but who knows what I'll get stuck on most in 2026... probably the upcoming Fatal Fury comeback! 2 days before my b-day too yuhs!!

what do you think of Mature n Vice's 'surprise' addition to KOFXV? I'm glad they got shown some love on this one (last-min love is still <3 nonetheless)

Grew up playing both on arcade casually over the years from SF II, KOF 95, SFA3, KOF 98 etc.

But I truly became invested learning combos and such when Super Street Fighter IV released, and Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike around the same time. Played hundred of hours on 360 and Fightcade. Installed the latest updates (Arcade Edition, ver.2012, Ultra), and also had SFIII3S Online Edition.

That being said the past decade I spent equal about of time learning combos and the mechanics of The King of Fighters specifically 2002 UM (and vanilla on FC2), XIV, and XV. Honestly I've been enjoying the last two KOF games over SF V and VI, but for the overall series they're tied for me.

Fightcade... never got into that, was it reliable/functional/good? I competed n chatted on 2DF for years until it went defunct n Fightcade rose from its ashes. I'm not sure why I skipped Fightcade - memory blindspot there but perhaps I should've given it a go

oh yeah they've been actively updating it over the years. more recently added dreamcast, naomi, atomiswave, and in the progress of playstation 1. I'd suggest fightcade2 the latest version for the best experience.

That's a real tough question. On average, I'd say most Street Fighter games are pretty good, whereas KOF has a few entries that underwhelmed.

Personally though, my great shame is I can't really handle a six-button layout for fighters. I can focus and get through combo challenges, or just do whatever input I'm going for, but once I'm actually playing someone the left bumper on a controller is *dust*, blown from the recesses of my mind.

(Yes, I have an arcade pad now, but unlearning decades of bad habits isn't going so hot.)

I totally prefer Tekken and Street Fighter. I never gave a try to KOF. Tekken was my childhood, i remember struggling with my bros because we were fighting and taking turns to unlock characters on Tekken 5

Same with the the USA where im from where Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Tekken are king compared to kof or any of snk's fighting games.

Love them both. SNK characters appeal more to me. But Third Strike is peak 2D fighting.
3rd strike is a classic indeed its like kof xiii back in the day where it had pretty graphics yet it was horrible for newcomers.
