Which game franchise should I give a try first?I've always enjoyed trying out games from various genres. There are many other things to consider; what would be a good franchise for me to start playing and test out to see if I like it?

Search these up and see if you like them, hope you do enjoy some. Some I've played, some I wanna play.

The Saboteur
Ys VIII
Drainus
Strike Suit Zero
Majogami
Blur
Psi-Ops - The Mindgate Conspiracy
Sonic Wings - Reunion
Cold Fear
Towa and the Guardians of the Sacred Tree
Dredge
Daemon X Machina
Company of Heroes
Assault Spy
Killer is Dead
Sakuna - Of Rice and Ruin
Legend of Legaia
Rage(id Software)
Super Robot Wars A Portable
Ender Lilies
I'm sure there's some genres I'm forgetting. ::winkfelix

Like this game can't stay on a single type of gameplay heck even the genre sometimes are not the same

you SHOULD check out Ys 1 and 2 for the fact you have no attack "button" and have to run into enemies to attack, imagine zelda if you had no attack button basically, it's a unique experience.
ys chronicles plus is porb the best way to play 1 and 2
every Ys 5 and after have an attack button though

Ys 8 is one of my all time favorite games, HIGHLY recommend that one, even if you don't play any other Ys game, play THAT one, it will be one of the best (if not THE best) game you've ever played.

i don't even really like ys 9 or 10 (good games but nowhere as good as 8)
it's an entirely different game from Ys 1-6 (which were all just Adol the main guy alone)
7 onwards had a party system and way different combat because of it
here's a random video i did on ps4, lots of dinosaurs...

Monster Hunter is always a great franchise. Highly recommended you start from newest to oldest as a newcomer. If your PC able or have PS5, start with Wilds, otherwise World/Rise first, then making your way down to Generation Ultimate (Gen 4), 3 Ultimate (Gen 3), Freedom Unite (Gen 2), and the OG English Patched (MH1G; Gen 1).

Another great franchise is Armored Core and Ace Combat. Similarly, you start at the newest, then followed with "GOAT" by the community, then sweep the rest.

My recommendation line for Armored Core:
Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon > Armored Core: for Answer > Armored Core: Verdict Day > AC4 > ACV (can be skipped) > PS1 Trilogy (Gen 1) > 2 and 2 Another Age (Gen 2) > 3, Silent Line, Nexus, Last Raven > Formula Front International > Nine-Breaker > Armored Core Mobile (if you feel freaky and can find it lol) > (Skip all the PSP port that isn't FFI)

My recommendation line for Ace Combat:
Ace Combat 7 > Ace Combat 6 (if you have X360; otherwise skip for now) > Ace Combat Zero > Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere > then sweep the rest in order of release

my knee jerk is Ys... start with (depending on your preference) the Ys Book 1 and 2 remake on psp, or just for goodness, Ys Ark of Napishtem, or Ys Origins.. than go from there..

The Ace Attorney games are well worth a play, there's so much going on in every single gosh darn game.

And then there's Zelda which is a safe bet but I guess you've already dipped into that set of games. If not go straight to the N64 and GameCube stuff, ya can't go wrong with them.

Regarding Ys, the lastest one (Ys X) is the third game in the timeline...I think? You can jump straight into that one without needing to know much about the others.

tales of
legend of heroes
baldur´s gate
breath of fire
atelier series
rune factory
no more heroes
nier
metal gear
legen of zelda
fallout
disgaea
valkyria chronicles
the witch and the hundred knight
yakuza
ys

I just downloaded an Ace Attorney translation in my language. Thank you for the recommendation.

Thank you for the recommendation.
