No Super Mario Bros. 3?

SMB1 is probably my favourite, and SMB2 is a heavily sentimental game to me. If I had to choose the "best", though... gun to my head, the vanilla version of Super Mario World is superior to 3. With the added e-reader levels, though, the GBA version of 3 (which is Super Mario Advance 4, weirdly) is by far the best game in the series, and might just be the best goddamned platformer of all time.

It's probably a tie between Mario 3, Super Mario World and Yoshi's Island for me. I'm pretty equally as happy playing any of those.

Super Mario Bros 1 is my favorite 2D
Super Mario World is the most nostalgic one
Super Mario 64 is my favorite 3D
Paper Mario 64 and Bowser Inside Story are my favorites of their respectives series

Btw I want to do a second playthrough of Super Mario RPG (the original one)

Assuming we're counting spinoff games, Mario Party Advance is my favourite non-platforming game in the series (and in fact my favourite game in the Mario series overall). I don't give a hoot about kart racing or tennis or backgammon or whatever, just give me the Gaddget that lets you open and close each character's mouth to pretend they're talking and I'm set. Oh, and for the RPGs, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga is my fave by a long shot.

Super Mario Land 2 on the GB.
And this is the best non-console Mario platformer by FAAAAAARRRRRRR

2D: Hard to say between Mario 3 and World. Depends on the day, really.

3D: Super Mario Galaxy. The soundtrack and atmosphere really elevate that game. Certainly helps through emulation/3D All Stars collection that we no longer need to use motion controls for those who don't want to use it, as well.

for 2D: Super Mario World is my favorite Mario game since I played it as a kid with my older Sister and older Brother when we had a SNES Jr.

for 3D: while I dislike the last levels, Super Mario 64 is my favorite 3D Mario and no doubt that did left a huge impact in gaming

I have the feeling that Galaxy duology will become in my favorite 3D Mario games but I will see that until I get a AC Adapter for my Wii

my favorite 2d is wonder nowadays.
3d ones i've never been into, still gotta try galaxy games tho

the recompiled version of Mario 64 makes it much easier to play - I have no idea how anyone ever finished the original with that janky ass N64 analog control
I am not a fan per se but I always wanted to finish that game

Tbh , i love Super Mario Land 3 aka Wario land .

Wario was for me always cooler than Mario . I like that greedy , shoulder-checking pseudo-bootleg mario on steroids . He needs more games nowadays outside Warioware. ESPECIALLY WITH WALUIGI , GODDAMMIT !!!!

For me is Super Mario RPG, it feels like the most creative and magical mario game, probably my favorite SNES game too and iirc the first RPG I finished by myself without help of my brothers.

But if I had to choose a platformer, I would go with mario bros 3. While I love world too, mario bros 3 is more nostalgic to me and I think its a more complete game overall. I personally love how nintendo goes crazy with the level design in the later worlds, also the amount of strange secrets and weird powerups, they really went wild in that game in a way world didn't really reach.

Super Mario Bros 3. I loved our Doki Doki Mario 2, but SMB3 was a big return to form, such a huge leap in graphics and gameplay over the original, and had so much hype behind it that it felt like the biggest event in the world to super little kid me at the time.

I'm going to be honest, I'm not much of a Mario guy. I like Mario games well enough, but I like my platformers on the weirder side (And that's why I prefer the spinoff games like Yoshi's Island, Wario Land and Donkey Kong Country to actual Mario games, since they are a lot stranger and more creative than mainline Mario games), so out of the games you listed my pick would definitevely be Yoshi's Island.
