I'm curious what consoles are regarded as having the highest ratio of hits to misses.

Honestly you can't really pick a console of the 21st century really because a high amount of their games run across many consoles so really you have to go back to the 80s and 90s. For me I would say Mega Drive, N64 and PS1. Yes they have many games that are across many consoles but they also have a much higher amount of exclusive games.

PS1, PS2, and maaayybe Xbox Classic and Gamecube?

That's an entirely subjective question based on how one defines good games. One could say the Neo Geo because of all the fighting games, but if you dislike the genre then it means nothing.

I don't have a good answer, for the record. I think all systems have absolute bangers that make them stand out. I will say my 3DS collection has the broadest range.

PS1 and PS2 by far. Also so many gems on these systems still not translated.

Probably the PS2 — that's when it really started clicking.

If I had to pick one console to play for the rest of my life, without counting remastered games, I would go with the PS2, it's got over 4000 games, I know not all of those games are good, but even if just a fraction of those games are worth playing today, you'll be gaming for decades

If you want per capita (as in which classic system has the largest percentage of highly rated games by players over the total number of games released on it), then the answer is the Nintendo 64. Sure, it only has somewhere around 400 titles, but it holds the highest concentration of highly rated games over any other console. The runner-up is the venerable Dreamcast.

Now, if you just want the greatest number of highly rated games, then your answer is the Playstation 2. The PS2 had over 4,000 games released on it and, with it being 100% fully backward compatible (remember when we thought that was the future?) with the original Playstation's over 3,000 games, it has the largest library of good games by volume alone. Of course, that also means that both Sony systems are also bloated by some of the worst games made, but that's what happens when you go by volume.

Lol N64? Hell no, it has one of the worst gaming libraries ever. And the reason it go so little titles was because it got destroyed by PS1.

In my experience the PS4, between remasters, remakes and new games.

Not a single person saying the og ds is crazy. It has basically as many games as the ps2 and a bottomless pit of rpgs. However, after reading the prompt more carefully, I think the correct answer has to be the N64 due to its focus on ratio. The DS has a ton of shovelware and the ps2 has a ton of shitters as well. It's not even worth considering them. Costing only 1$ to make a ps2 cart, it might as well be a landfill of trash.

The N64 has 296 games (388 internationally but I'll be America-centric), 11 are rareware there's about 65 Nintendo games, around 8 Konomi games, 5 Capcom games, Acclaim and THQ put out a lot of decent games. There's only really 10 or 11 bad games to begin with and maybe 50 misses the rest can reasonably be considered hits. The ps2 and ds have way more hits but it has more misses than hits so it gets ratiod hard. Not that it matters, you can just only play the good games.

Other potentially better pick is the Dreamcast. The pumped out all their hits and died.
