When playing through a game series, do you skip "the bad one"?

Who says I play the games in order?

Of course I do. One time was enough torture.

It all depends on what "bad game" really means. Is it bad because it subjectively misses the mark on the franchise's story, or is it bad because it’s objectively broken and just isn't fun to play? If it's the former, I would give it a chance. If it's the latter, I wouldn't bother. I will probably just read a synopsis or watch a Youtube recap just to make sure I don't miss story details.

The Devil May Cry franchise is a perfect example of this. A lot of people dismiss the DmC: Devil May Cry reboot as a "bad game" because it butchered Dante's character and tried to reboot the franchise. But as a pure hack-and-slash action game, it’s actually incredibly solid and fun. I played it to completion and enjoyed the experience. Devil May Cry 2, on the other hand, is technically canon to the main story, but it's a genuinely bad game. It's so fundamentally broken that I dropped it after an hour; it just never clicked.
