The hardware was awesome, games like Jet Set Radio Future and Morrowind were kino and it revolutionized online console gaming.

Turns on and plays games broski, whats wrong with that? It can run games on 480p and 720p, not even the Gamecube can do that. Plus it has pressure sensitive face buttons like the PS2. Honestly no one should play multiplats of that gen on anything but the XBOX. it was made for it.

Plus it was very easy to softmod and swap out the hard drive for something bigger. The custom soundtrack feature was fantastic and I used it all the time.

Xbox never had anything online that I was excited for. I didn't even remember it was a thing for it back then until today; that's how fuckin' irrelevant the argument is, here.

It does? As far as I know they're prone to dying out after a year or two. Not running games now, bro; and if you want to get it repaired, the cost of the replacement will make you feel better off just getting a new one.
And stop riding so hard; there's so much available multiplayer games on other systems that it's astounding how I literally can't think of anything more fun on Xbox than I could find a more fun experience on some other platform.

Yeah, that's why they're known to break down and die.
It's still just a glorified dumbed-down PC with a few more features than most consoles of it's generation, due to the fact Microsoft had enough experience in the field to try it without suffering any devastating financial loss.
A big experiment, both with the hardware itself, and the consumers.

I remember more of those types having one, but we were all hyped about it over things like Crash Bandicoot, MediEvil and Final Fantasy VII. The jRPG market alone made it appealing to many gamers across all platforms.

let's not forget that at that time Microsoft tried to push the Xbox 360 subscription plans to Windows via Game for Windows Live and failed miserably.
Still it was nice to be able to chat with Xbox players (for free I might add) but unfortunately there was no cross play. They had to also own the PC version of the game.

Though I played Blazblue CT with Xbox players, back when PC version was dead on arrival. This and another game were the only exception, back in 2011.

Best fighting game tournament players were on Xbox 360 at that time. The rest were on Ps3. PC had the worst players as there were barely any recent games.

It all started to change when usf4 switched to Ps4 as tournament standard and Sony bought exclusive rights for SF5 on PS4.

Xbox 360 players moved en mass to Ps4 and Steam. Also Microsoft dropped Japanese exclusive arcade ports as XB One focused on the American market.

I'm not arguing for or against the online play; I never experienced it because I never saw anything that seemed worth the effort to set up internet on an Xbox for, let alone get an Xbox to play anything in general. I will say this; a friend of mine had one, and we played Conker Live and Reloaded. That was a good game on the Xbox.

That said, I never wanted a Gamecube or PS2 for their online capabilities; there were enough Adventure titles on each console that left little else to be desired beyond that point in gaming history.

I had all 4 never hated a console in that gen. Ill do say that the first years of PS3 were god awful but at least the games around 2009-onward made the console worth while. If you only knew how bad the ps3 launch years were, half the games barely ran as good as on xbox 360.
