I can't even remember which games came out which year. I'll say I liked Dead Cells a lot and Blue Prince was really cool, but other than that nothing's sticking out in my mind

I got Baldur's Gate 3 during the christmas sales I think and it sure has earned a retroactive goty 2023 to me. Quite frankly I can't remember what else came out this decade that really stood out as much.
It's a wonderful game that I didn't even think I would like all that much.

2020: DOOM Eternal
2021: Psychonauts 2
2022: Signalis
2023: Hi-Fi RUSH
2024: 1000xResist
2025: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

2021: Hitman 3
2022: Pokémon Legends: Arceus
2023: RoboCop: Rogue City
2024: Sonic X Shadow Generations
2025: Probably Robobcop again
Not sure how I'll feel about Robocop Unfinished Business. Looks more of the same and not sure what else can they do with the story. I'll play it regardles. Overall liked Rogue City. It retroactively fixed Robocop 2's story and the combat was fun enough but it could get repetitive and have some boring sections. It was also a slav-jank. Still, a must play for a Robocop fan for sure.

2020: Jack Bros
2021: Jack Bros
2022: Jack Bros
2023: Jack Bros
2024: Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance
2025: Jack Bros

2020: Jack Bros
2021: Jack Bros
2022: Jack Bros
2023: Jack Bros
2024: Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance
2025: Jack Bros
Been wanting to get into Shin Megami Tensei.(Definetly not regular Megami Tensei I saw videos about it how much a chore it is) Is the first snes game a good place to start? Or you have only played Jack Bros and V? lol

I know for a fact Baldur's Gate 3, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and Metroid Dread are all on this list for me. Instant classics. Will replay them until I die. idk about the rest.

I'm gonna cheat and include re-releases with extra content too.

2020:
DOOM Eternal
(Dragon Quest XI S)
2021:
Shin Megami Tensei V
(Disco Elysium: The Final Cut)
(Death Stranding: Director's Cut)
(Shadow-Man Remastered)
2022:
TUNIC
(Elden Ring)

2023:
Armoured Core VI: Fires of Rubicon
(Lies of P)

2024:
Animal Well

  • 2020 - Toss-up between Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Yakuza: Like a Dragon
  • 2021 - Shin Megami Tensei V (I only played Vengeance but I can't think of any other game this year lol)
  • 2022 - TMNT: Shredder's Revenge
  • 2023 - Baldur's Gate 3
  • 2024 - Dragon's Dogma 2 (Persona 3 Reload if counting remakes)
These are always so hard because I'm not very good at playing new games when they're brand new, except for like two or three games a year. I've been getting better at it thanks to Gamepass though but still.

2020: Animal Crossing New Horizons
2021: Super Mario: Bowser's Fury
2022: Kirby & The Forgotten Land
2023: Super Mario Bros. Wonder
2024: Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door Remake

Yes and no. It being an SNES game means there's a bit of clunkiness and it's cryptic sometimes. It's fine to start with, just be aware of that + fan translations are a bit buggy with buying guns in the SNES version, known issue. The GBA version has some extra content, just be aware the music is a trash fire on that version. There's supposed to be a patch but it's currently MIA and I think it's still in the making. Alternatively to that, there's the PS1 remake. This version from what I know is mostly the same aside from graphical and music differences. Lacks the extras from GBA though.

And no I have not just played V and Jack Bros, if that blurb wasn't enough. I've played quite a lot of them at different points. Kyuuyaku Megami Tensei, SMT I, SMT II, SMT if, Majin Tensei, Majin Tensei II: Spiral Nemesis, Last Bible III, Soul Hackers (3DS), Persona, Persona 2: Innocent Sin, Persona 3 FES, Persona 4 Golden, Digital Devil Saga, SMT: Nocturne HD, SMT: Strange Journey, SMT Strange Journey Redux, Devil Survivor Overclocked, Tokyo Mirage Sessions (working on it since I've had that one on my Switch for years), SMT IV, SMT V, SMT V: Vengeance, Jack Bros, SMT Synchronicity (which was an obscure spinoff on PC made solely to promote Strange Journey Redux, fun game, go check it out since it's abandonware), SMT Dx2 (that's the mobile game, it's fiiiiine), Persona 5 Strikers (back when Persona 5 was PS exclusive but the sequel wasn't for who the fuck knows), DemiKids (I forgot which, but I burned out immediately before I even got to play the game lmao), and everything else is stuff I haven't played or can't play (looking at you Persona 2 Tsumi and Batsu)

Must point out that I played these games, finished none. I am incredibly slow with actually beating games when there is an obstacle.

2020: Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2
2021: Monster Hunter Rise
2022: Crystal Project
2023: Cyberpunk 2077 v2.0 patch
2024: FFVII Rebirth

My 2025 GOTY will either be DK Bananza or Death Stranding 2, but I won't be playing either of them any time soon (waiting for Switch 2 to build up a library and DS2's inevitable PC port). So it'll probably wind up being THPS 3+4.
