As some of you probably know, I've been replaying the original "MOTHER" for the Famicom alongside the recent "EarthBound Beginnings Remake" done in the 2nd game's engine (More specifically with the original version, I'm playing "MOTHER Restored" alongside the "Earth Bound" prototype).

As of writing this, I am currently grinding a bit across all 3 saves so I can have an easier time fighting the Dragon for the 6th Melody. This fight is notoriously difficult unless you do a certain exploit that makes the fight significantly shorter.

A common practice among the gaming community is to put on some music during lengthy grinding sessions to lessen the boredom. For me in particular, I'll often put on some of my favorite Sega Genesis soundtracks ("Streets of Rage 1 & 2," "Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon," "Ys III," "E-SWAT," the list goes on).

Out of morbid curiosity, what's your guys' go-to grinding music?

These days, I mostly use my grind time to curate my music backlog. Right now I'm going through a lot of Pink Floyd's discography, though this album by Mystery Jets is getting my attention:

Cursed Cathedral from Mario Mystery Meat, a whole bunch of SiivaGunner rips, FFX Soundtrack, and now 302? ionwan2go (or Serenade Of Red Moon Of Adulthood from Love Hina Advance: Blessings Ring in the Bell? if you want to technical.)

I usually put this radio and that's it, it got plenty of nice tunes, either game remixes or original ones. It's all vibes and nice SNK/Capcom fighting game backgrounds.

For grinding like this not so much, I'll usually put on a Twitch stream and half watch that. most old games don't have individual volume control so you just have to mute the game if you don't want overlapping music. I guess it's kind of weird but I always want to hear the game.

Only time I really put on music while gaming is if I'm labbing in a fighting game, which often times you CAN just turn the music off in. Perfect time to just zone out and let the muscle memory take over. I just have a big folder of other game music that I shuffle through.

(when I said big folder I meant it ::winkfelix )

You sound like my hyperactive Costa Rican friend.

Oh wow. So beforehand in the days of minecraft 1.0 i'd vibe to a podcast while diamond diving. once upon a time i remember this little tune that used to play on certain MC videos called Computer People by DJ Redlight
For me one i used most was Infected Mushroom's Dancing With Kadafi. Perfect diamond dig music.

Over the 2010s i was introduced to Castlevania's osts. Symphony of the night is the game that helped me get through such a difficult patch in my life that it's so hard to forget how good it's whole suite of osts from the series sounds. Divine bloodlines hit hard when i started to play in more online grindfests (Whether it was on Dark souls or even warframe)

Current year..if i were put a safe bet on what i listen to for music in the bg, vania is still a go to. Though these days i've been on flight games like Ace Combat and Project Wingman, one track stands out and maaan it's a bop
