i looooooooooove psychological horror, i feel like its quite clear from my pfp but still, 90% of media i consume is just psychological horror, i love it when media fucks with my brain and i feel really sad over said media.
bonus if it's sci-fi, i think its aesthetic is just so beautiful, with all its computers and tech and crap, double bonus if it's cyberpunk, i love bright colours so layering that with sci-fi is just... chef's kiss.
triple bonus if it's a dystopia.

Psychological horror also stands at the top for me alongside Mecha.
This is why Space Runaway Ideon dominates everything I've ever watched personally, it feels like the perfect culmination of everything I love.

I love it when I'm treated to media that experiments with the human mind, attempts to understand it. Makes people aware of the infinite effort our unconscious goes through to persevere its life above all else. Life got a lot more better for me when psychological horror as an aspect and genre helped me understand crucial things about our mind and souls.

I'm hopelessly addicted to mecha. Gritty real robots, Flashy super robots? Give me all of them as I adore all of them deeply.

Sci-Fi, Fantasy, OR sci-fi fantasy (if done well) are my favorites personally.

I really like the large concepts that sci-fi can cover. I've been reading Asimov and Clarke since I was 13 or so and I've always just found the concepts to be super fascinating. Movie wise, you get things like Star Trek, or even arguably the Matrix, or games like Half-Life, Deus Ex... I'm a nerd, it's basically an obligation to like sci-fi to some extent.

Fantasy is also phenomenal when done right. It often feels very cozy and obviously is the world of many DND campaigns and RPGs, so it's obviously pretty awesome LOL. As I've gotten older, a lot of it feels written for younger audiences to be more whimsical, but if it's done right, it's great. Harry Potter is written for a middle school/high school audience, but I find them very well written and unique. The Lord of the Rings may be my favorite book series of all time (and some of my favorite movies ever, too), but of course the other issue is how much fantasy is just directly ripping off of LOTR. Without Tolkien, we wouldn't have many fantasy concepts that we have today, but at the same time many stories just feel like LOTR lite instead of a new story.

I think for me it's Horror as a whole. I just love Horror stuff. Honestly it's funny looking back. I was terrified of everything as a kid. Like you can't tell me anyone could be scared of this picture. But it scared the absolute fuck out of me as a kid. I chalk it up to my Autism being a lot more prevalent when I was young, and my home situation at the time made me timid.

But today? I'm in heaven with all the stuff people are making online. People like vibingleaf, Alan Resnick, Kris Straub, etc. Just so much talent on display, and it's just all types of people just making something off the dome, and it ending up being really interesting.

I recommend checking out Vita Carnis, Gemini Home Entertainment, and Daisy Brown if you like stuff with monsters. Really cool series. Honestly I could gush all day about this.

War, preferably gritty and unapologetic. No propaganda, no preachyness, show how war actually is for the reader to make their own conclusions. Hammer's Slammers is the best example, Groundless is also great as well.

Chaos and destruction are beautiful in on themselves, politics and ideology are boring illusions, show some of the rawest facets of humanity, the true self, the sublime beauty of the Thanatos.

Its really difficult to find the good shit, so I always appreciate it when I do.

I also like romance, although I am VERY picky with it, for the same reasons, the more primal facets of humanity, the beauty of order and creation, the Eros that makes the world interesting. Guess why I read so many VNs?

Fantasy, by a million miles. But I'm a sucker for almost any sort of pulpy adventure, as long as it's earnest.
Although I'm a Tolkien fanatic at heart, lately I've been able to pinpoint that my current favorite style of fantasy is of the "sword and sorcery" variety, but I'm able to like just about every style as long as it's fun and engaging.

Fantasy and Sci-Fi were the two genres that always captured my imagination as a kid, probably stemming from being exposed to Star Wars and Lord of the Rings at a very young age, and they still do even now as an adult, in all honesty.

You can just do so much with them when it comes to the thematic elements of a story as well, plus; you can pair them up with so many other genres and create truly great works. In the hands of a truly skilled artist or writer, these are easily the two most versatile genres.

Swashbuckling, particly from the Caribbean. My country has a history of pirate heroes and privateers facing agaisnt bandits and European powers plus the island tropical setting appeals to me since i live in one. So any media from that aesthetic im a sucker for that, even The Secret of Monkey Island which i always wanted to play.
