Many consoles have passed through my house from 2000 to today. But if I had to choose my favorite console, it would definitely be the Xbox 360.
The best Christmas gift I ever received as a kid: received when it was still next-gen (the Xbox One would be released the following year), I have several good memories linked to it. The endless games with my brothers in CoD's Zombies mode, the first time I played and finished MGS 3, the constant deaths in the Flakturm level in MoH Airborne... and that amazing Fallout 3 that kept me busy for weeks, waiting the summer to get the Xbox One and play the fourth chapter.

My favorite console is the Sony PlayStation, where I learned and played some of the best JRPGs, a genre that I really enjoy. The Sega Mega Drive/Genesis is a close second.
I love the PlayStation. I remember the days spent watching my father play Resident Evil 2 or the first Medal of Honor, or playing Crash Bandicoot.

For me, it's easily the PS3.
Great game selection with some healthy backwards compatibility, it has the ability to play movies either from a DVD, blu-ray, or even a flashdrive. And let's not forget it has an awesome interface (with no ads or lag, unlike later consoles).

The only downside is that the HDMI output is a pain in the ass nowadays.

The original Game Boy until Game Boy Advance for introducing me to handheld stuff

The PSP for showing me what handheld console is capable of

Nintendo DS is the first to show me that touch screen games can be fun

PS2, Xbox, Dreamcast and GameCube for it's revolutionary jump

Last but not least, PS1, Sega Saturn and Nintendo 64 for it's great games that transition to 3D

The next console I would like to buy is the PS3, so I could get some exclusive games like Demon's Souls or Persona 5.
I have to say you're right, the Xbox 360 had an interface that didn't even lag, but the ads made it look like a sort of start menu on a smart TV, lol

(The modern interface, however, is very sad.)

I agree with some users who preceded me. On my old dear fat PSX (with modified chip) I played a myriad of jrpg and adventure games (copied on simple CD-R disks). Unfortunately today it struggles to read both the few original discs and the copied ones. Too bad! 🤷‍♂️

About portable consoles, my pink DS Lite and blue DSi are irreplaceable, and for java games I still use an s40 Nokia 301. The PSP3004 now only for PSX eboots. 😎

ps2 without a doubt. So many memories and years with that ps2, sonic heroes, sonic unleashed, sotc, call of duty, dbz budokai tenkaichi 3, mortal kombat shaolin monks, gta sa, etc. I will never forget it, and it still hurts me that it recently passed away, after playing with it almost since 2010 (approximately, although I probably had it longer)

R.I.P my ps2, one day I will continue GTA SA where we left off before you left, I swear (my ps2 died just after I arrived at the Four Dragons Casino)

The xbox 360. Because there's a lot of "janky" stuff in the early years of that console (games like Legendary or Infernal) and also the majority of "old" stuff that I replay is there (Dragon age, Mass effect, F.E.A.R, Assasins creed, Marvel Ultimate alliance, MK 9, War for Cybertron, Oblivion. Etc) and the control is really good.

Even though it entered my life very late (I was 16) and I had it very little (freak accident)... the Dreamcast, without a doubt. What a beautiful thing. I even went online with it for the first time, something I had previously thought unthinkable. My socks are still in orbit.

SNES for me. I admit it's partially since I grew up with it, but it does have a solid library, you could jump into the games quickly (no hour long cutscenes to sit through) and the control just felt right to me.

I would like to buy a CRT TV just to play these consoles as best as possible. Super Mario RPG and Earthbound are the games that introduced me to the SNES.

No way, JAVA games!
As a child I played them on my mother's Nokia 6630: Shrek the Third, Spider-Man 3, King Kong, Wacky Races... so many memories!

SEGA Saturn 🪐

Grew up playing Nintendo's 8-bit hardware, handheld, and eventually 16-bit machine but became engrossed in playing arcade games specifically SEGA cabinets the most. It was natural next-step to own Saturn back in '95, at least for me. It's home to my favorite genre of video games from original titles to ports of; fighters, shoot'em ups, puzzle etc. My top 5 favorite systems: Sega Saturn, PC Engine, Super Famicom, Dreamcast, Playstation.

Favorite on a technical level, Sega CD.
Favorite when it comes to library, probably ps2.

Super Nintendo. Inb4 it was my first console. That may be the case but I’ve come back to play SNES games more times than any other retro systems. The library is full of absolute bangers both well known and obscure.

psp cause I saw this kid playing it in some random restaurant we were at and was overcome with envy, but had no clue what it was until I got a job and figured it out and got myself like 3 of em for good measure
