What's your favorite videogame minigame?

Definitely fishing games, there's also an article about it too here by Azimuth

Other than that though, I really love the Skateboarding minigames like in Metal Gear Solid 2. Also minigames in GTA, GTA 5 definitely has one of the best minigames like the Tennis and Quadski racing. Also GTA 4, like the pool, bowling and even poker.

GTA always had great minigames

I actually ended up growing quite fond of playing cards thanks to Fallout. I loved many of the casino minigames in New Vegas, and they ended up instigating me to find out a bit more about card games from my own country, as well

Everything that has some sort of gambling in like the chocobo racing in FF 7 or the slot machine on Pokémon the thrill of gambling without loosing real money.

The Project Gotham Racing series casually couching some of the greatest arcade games ever made in the garage is still so wild to me. Spent almost as much time playing Geometry Wars as I did playing PGR2 itself! Normally I'd say "games within a game" are cheating cause otherwise franchises like Yakuza win without really trying (though they still arguably win with original minigames alone) but Geometry Wars was actually first featured as a minigame in PGR2.

I'm also a big Blitzball fan. Thankfully both X and X2 don't force you to do anything aside from 1 game (that you're allowed to lose) for the main story so the people who constantly cry out about how much they hate it never have to engage with it unless they want Wakka's celestial weapon. As it stands though it is super fun! I'd have loved a really fleshed out standalone version with three dimensional movement but unless FFX gets remade someday that'll probably never be in the cards. Regardless, I still spend a ton of time scouting players and playing through leagues even on casual playthroughs of the game because I just find it to be a simple, unique and relaxing minigame. My only real complaint is that it just has the 1 tied to it and while it does a good job of not feeling super repetitive, even the most ambient of songs will be annoying after 5+ hours of listening to it.

The most relaxive fishing is in Breath of Fire IV for me. And the most annoying - in the Final Fantasy XII. Did you play them?
And yes, I spend a dozens of hours playing Triple Triad, and collected all cards here🤩
I'm playing breath of fire iv ( currently still at the very beginning) and I also love the fishing in the game

I love the FF7 mini games like the races, the snowboarding and the one where you play an strategy game. Also I like the ones in Chrono Trigger for example the whole fair or the race against Johnny.

Karaoke in the Yakuza series. It is one of the main reasons why I play these games lol. As soon as the world opens up I go straight to the karaoke and spend hours into it 😂

Riichi Mahjong in most Yakuza games and that side game in Tales of Eternia (Whis) where you had to match elemental cards and empty your hand.

I absolutely loved the combat arena in God of War 2, 3, and Ghost of Sparta. There's something magical about being able to select which enemies to spawn and having total control over the different modifiers.

This tank "arcade" in Madagascar:
Might actually be better than the main game.

Toss up between Digimon 3's Card Battle and Xenogears' Speed Card and Gear Battling.

Tho in general PSX console was truly the era where the best minigames can be found. It even had the best parody minigame compilations of all time: Bishi Bashi series.
