Along with retro games, i also love old toys. There are lots of very unique toys that get around the limits of having to be cheap yet innovative to capture children's attention before the ease of something like a smartphone app. Tamagotchi is definitely one of those things, being made of very cheap to produce materials while also having a lot of depth. I've only got my first one a couple days ago but i already put a lot of research into it and it goes way deeper than i thought it would!

So to circle back around, what's your favorites of Tamagotchi? Here are mine:

Tamagotchi Angel. I think they look really cute and i love the evolutions. I actually have one that's supposed to arrive tomorrow. The tapping feature is also fun.

Mori de Hakken! Tamagotchi (Tamagotchi Garden.) I find this one really unique. I'm not exactly a fan of bugs, but raising a virtual one looks like a lot of fun. Too bad the american release was cancelled and the existing japanese versions are around 80 dollars. I doubt i'll ever have one but i appreciate them a whole lot. In addition to the tapping feature the angel one has, this even has a sound feature where you can yell at bigger threats to your bug to go away.

Tamagotchi Connection V5. I find the Connection line to be interesting all by itself. The fact two virtual pet toys can can connect, get married, have kids, grand kids, and so on is pretty impressive. But V5 is the most alluring to me. It has that little chimney-house looking thing coming out the top in place of the fake antennae really sells the look for me. It's also interesting the key chain is different in every single region it released in. I can only guess why they would make four totally different chains for the same device. You can also have three eggs at one time. Having a dad, a mom and a kid at the same time looks pretty fun. The generation effect also carries over where you can make whole family trees. Pretty amazing stuff for a little device that runs off button batteries!

I dont know much about digimon other than they were the 'boy version' of tamagotchi, but yeah i'd say digimon count. I know there's about a million versions of digimon as well.
