What's your favorite rhythm game? And what's so special about it?

Project Diva has such a nice variety of music genres it blows everything out of the water. It kinda sucks Sega stopped making them/adding charts to push the mobile game. I like lots of other ones like the Final Fantasy ones, Taiko no Tatsujin, and Rhythm Heaven but none of them come close to how invested I am with Project Diva's setlist.

There's also a Poppin Music port for the gameboy color I recommend people check out.

A bit late but my favorites are the Project Diva games.

There's also IA/VT which came out on the Vita but never made it to the west due to licensing issues.
Not sure if the list is complete, but there's a playlist on youtube if you want to give it a listen:

Another one I ended up liking a whole lot was 'Theatrhythm Final Bar Line'. Was quite the nostalgia trip to go through all those songs for the old Final Fantasy games (and it was nice that SE acknowledged the existence of Final Fantasy Mystic Quest). Personally wish it had more songs from Final Fantasy XIV.

uh i used to like stepmania a lot until i threw my keyboard at my wall and had to collect keys off the ground for 10 minutes

I wasn’t into rhythm games until I recently discovered Sound Voltex. Not sure yet if I can play it at home, so I’m thinking of trying other games. I used to love Guitar Hero if that counts.

I’ll check out this thread, but feel free to share any recommendations!

Good fellas on this forum introduced me to Clone Hero, and I love it so much!

[duplicate of my earlier post in another thread section with some corrections, sorry about that]

Latest public beta definitely rocks. I’m eagerly waiting for new release with multiplayer fix.

I thought I will be missing that career progress from Guitar Hero (I only played GH3 on PC eons ago), and nah, CH has much more to offer, it is really easy to find your favourite songs, all these modifiers like drunk mode makes totally different experience, hehe.

As for customisation, when I played Frets on Fire back then, some mods allowed you to turn the appearance of the game to look like all those console titles, it was cool.
And Clone Hero is just next level, there is per song customization with different highways, background image or even video clip, lyrics, simply copy paste the files. Many other options. This is amazing, who needs fancy menus now.

The game runs smoothly on my junky box with 1080p@60FPS, which was quite a surprise. I even bought Guitar Hero Live 6 frets guitar controller, it looks and feels so stylish, natively supported in Linux, and most important - Clone Hero can automatically convert standard 5 fret tracks into 6 frets!
May Confucius bless the guy who wrote the drivers!

One thing, don’t trust the Internets where they say the guitar is Bluetooth and just works if you have it, hell no, it is a complete nonsense as anything else random people post online nowadays. You need a special console USB dongle receiver, only avoid xbox one (360 is fine), it will be painful experience. Refer to CH manual.
Well, technically it is a proprietary BT and someone hacked it too, but that’s require engineering degree and messing up with microcontrollers on ms win, I’ll pass. I wanna only shred!
