I'm always on the hunt for these types of games so I wanna know everyone's thoughts. They scratch my brain real good.

I've been loving Fields of Mistria because it feels like the handheld Harvest Moons. I love the character portraits, I love all the dialogue, I love the animal variety, and I love how everything feels earned. It just feels really satisfying to play. It already has so much content it's hard to believe it's in early access.

I really liked what I played of Palia, if that counts. I've been meaning to get back into it.
Also looking forward to play the Shire game once I can set aside time for it.

Though I guess those games are more garden sim than farm sim, now that I think about it.

I haven't played that many of them and I would say Stardew Valley is my favorite, but I've also played Littlewood on Switch and I found that game quite fun.

Does Atomicrops count?
But yeah, Stardew for me as well - that said, I've only ever played a couple Harvest Moon games aside from it, so my input is definitely not exactly valuable.

I really don't like to play the indie harvest moon/story of seasons/rune factory games because I can play the actual games I bought years/decades ago. Just really hate natsume made games...they suck 8@775.

Also the only one Indie i didn't hate was Coral Island. It was actually enjoyable...and also was on gamepass but that ended so did my save file. -_-

Can only really echo the Stardew Valley that other people have said. Nothing else has ever really appealed to me and it's one of those genres I could only really play every once in a while personally.

just booted up Littlewood again after years and immediately got addicted to it again, so yeah, safe to say it's a really good one. I like how instead of a timer you're given a stamina bar that depletes for certain actions (such as picking weeds, catching fish, etc) so you're able to take days at whatever pace you'd like instead of trying to rush to complete all the things you want to do in a specified time. Also, there are a lot of cute villagers.

I am also a more harvest moon/story of seasons/rune factory enjoyer, but I do like seeing what people are doing with the genre. I yearn for some of the more weird/complex mechanics in some of the harvest moons/story of seasons like aqueducts and rice patties and the overall weirdly intense crop quality system. I was hoping indie devs would pick up on some of those weird mechanics. Unfortunately a lot of them feel like asset flips.

Kamaeru: A Frog Refuge, is a kindhearted confort game where you take care of the cutest amphibians in Earth

It's definitely a pretty young subgenre as far as indies go, so there'll be a lot of games made by tiny teams who want to make ther unicorn game that'll undeniably feel like samey mirrored versions of each other for the general consumer, but super special for the individual creators ("I wanna make Stardew but with fairies! I wanna make Harvest Moon but with robots!" etc, not knocking that though), but it's also proven extremely popular in general in recent years so I have no doubts it's gonna evolve a lot too, given time.
