Is there a game you ALWAYS have to play at least once a week?

For me, it all began a sunday morning of 2003... I used to have a Windows XP PC and a CD-R with Zsnes and some ROMs... among them "Tetris Attack" which I thought it was a hidden sequel of TETRIS for NES which I loved playing in my "Super Joy II" Famiclone when I was 4 years old in 1996/1997...
Ever since I've been playing that game rigorously at least once a week.
I LOOOOVE that game, is so much fun.

My favorite is Pokémon Puzzle League due to nostalgic reasons... but I've played all the game's versions, SNES, GB, N64, GBC, GBA, GCN & NDS, including Japanese Versions with the exception of cancelled "Panel de Pon 64"

What about y'all?

It's less like an addiction and more like mood swings , months can go by and i will boot up the same game hell even years

I didn't play Command & Conquer games since 2020/2021 and focused on WarCraft/Age Of Empires , now some 5 years later I'm playing CNC almost everytime i use the laptop

Either modding it or playing skirmishes or story , I'm the sort of person that keeps playing the same game for a long period of time without getting bored , cuz as long as I'm getting better i will try out different strategies and ways to experience the game

I do get such stuff with puzzle games (especially Tetris) and roguelikes but not every week. It's more like "I started it again and I can't stop it"

The classic boomer shooter from 1997 called Blood, I haven't played it in like two weeks but I'm just *itching* to throw some dynamite at some cultists once again but I got other obligations, those being Ace Combat Zero followed by 5.

Streets of Rage 4 was this for a long time. I don't play as much anymore, but still play often when I am in the mood, or finished a different game and all it has to offer. A similar case for DmC: Definitive Edition and DMC5. Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4 Remake I could not put down for nearly a year in their respective release years.

Rushing Beat X was this for a while, until I got the Platinum trophy.

I have played Animal Crossing DS for a whole year every day (bought the game day-one), then for a some months I've played daily "Race the Sun" (just a couple of runs).
Otherwise, I use to play the game I want and then, when it ends, I play something else.

Not once per week, but I'm hella addicted to Monster Hunter whenever it's that time, I've explained it on different thread before, I can play it for ~5 hours straight and took someone's chicken for me to realize it's 2 AM already. Basically "2 weeks Minecraft phase" meme but for MH.

It was so bad with MHFU couple years ago, that I genuinely forgot to eat and time all while being extremely frustrated at soloing G-Rank, and I have to actively stop playing before I broke something.

My goal was to slay Fatalis just once, and I had to cheese it in the end.

there are times when I play dcss every day for months.

I have great time with it when I play with the right mindset, surviving the dungeon with whatever drops. But because of huge amount of options and playstyle, I often theorycraft various build combinations, then get frustrated when I die because the key items/spells don't drop. There are times where I stuck in loop of theorycrafting a build then die without seeing it online.

fortunately nowadays I manage to get away from it. I have other games to scratch my theorycrafting itch and have pick & play games ready so I don't play dcss out of boredom and habit, and when I do play dcss again I make sure to play with the mindset of surviving the dungeon with whatever drops instead of having certain build in mind. My recent favorite race in dcss is demonspanws because its mutations roulette force me to adapt instead of me trying to force certain playstyle.

Interesting.
Yeah I've experienced some of the situations y'all said:

- Haven't played something in a long time... let's try it one more time, ooops I finished the game again.
- Has the itch to fight certain characters, ooops I'm playing Street Fighter Alpha 3, Ridge Racet R4, or Medal of Honor again.

WOW THERE'S A NEW "BRAWL BROTHERS" !?

I understand!
Back in 2004 I played Animal Crossing GCN daily, one day my GCN simply stopped reading discs.

I play GTA every time I feel like listening to a podcast/video essay/audiobook — words just flow better when I'm getting my eyes and hands busy on the neon-bathed streets of Vice City.

Do you just free roam or do rampages while listening?

I mostly just drive around, but I also tend to hunt for Unique Stunts while I'm at it.

Between my back-to-back listening of "Lost Lambs" and "Girl Detective", I spent 14 hours on the game — the most I have in decades ^^U

I would say my "gaming addiction" is file hoarding for sure, I download WAY too many games which leaves me stuck with choice paralysis :|
I do also have a few "game phases" that I go through, one month I might have a racing phase, the next a hack n slash phase, or a modded game phase (usually minecraft or terraria, i REFUSE to play vanilla minecraft). At the moment though, I'm in kind of a "limbo" phase where I'm not really focused on a particular game at this point (i've been playing roguelikes, racing games, and liminal walking simulators recently), though I'm sure as I settle down more I will get back into a regular schedule of sorts.

If that helps you, a method of choosing that i have consists or googling "NES games" and go to images. Later, i play that came first on the image from left-right order (if i want to play it of course. I wouldn't play sports games for example) if i completed all the games on that platform (if we are talking about a series) i move to other one that haves games of that series too and then i search games of that platform.

Well, I'd say Tekken—I've been playing it for as long as I can remember...

Nah I eventually figured out a kind of system, I just got a new job recently so I'm having to restructure what I do with my time.

Liminal walking simulators? Have you tried Hypnagogia: Boundless Dreams and Fatum Betula? Hypnagogia is also getting a sequel sometime this year called Broken Dreams, needless to say I'm very excited for that.

Yes. Digital versions came out in march in the physical versions came out in April.

Sims mainly house architecture, or making cities in Simcity. Recently I slowed down on that to focus my other main hobby.
