Anime What's an anime character you actually relate with?

I mean, he's already my avatar so I'll go with Snufkin lol (even though it's an adaptation).

Just like me, he enjoys spending time with those he loves, but also feels the need to be on his own almost instinctively. He insists on living his life the way that works the best for him (even if that means making his friends sad when he has to go away for periods at a time, but he always comes back).
I'm way more materialistic than he is, though, but other than that I relate to Snufkin a great deal.
I kind of envy how laid back and mellow he seems to be all the time, since I'm prone to overthinking things and getting anxious because of it (which is also why I relate to Moomin himself), but I'm working on it.

The best part about how well-written Moomin characters are is that you can usually see a smidge of yourself in all of them.

Kanji Sasahara from Genshiken. Just a mild mannered dude that is really passionate about his interests but is lowkey about them to people that don't share the same hobbies but opens up around fellow otaku.

I never felt so represented in any type of media as much as Sasahara in last episode of seasson 2. He is literraly me.

Classic answer. While NHK shows the bad/toxic side of otaku, I think it is somewhat exagerated. I think Genshiken has the more down to earth approach to otaku culture and behavior.
I think the anime is less about Otaku culture and behavior and more about being dysfunctional in society and in your own life. Even in the show you can see other characters that are as broken as the Satou, but never got into anime or games or anything like that. I think it is very accurate to the experience of someone with the set of problems he had, like i said, i can relate to almost all of them, they are very real and very painful, and there is way more people living like this close to you than you imagine.

Also, based Genshiken, one of the most feel good anime ever made, i want to rewatch it now lol

Is it sad that I unironically relate to Tomoko sometimes

I feel Kuroki is so heavily misinterpreted by the fandom, and the anime really did not help with that whatsoever.

Yes, she can be gross. Yes, she can be mean. But at heart, she is just a girl with social issues and nerdy interests that solidified said social issues. There are so many scenes where I just feel bad for her, cause I know how that feels. I really appreciate how the manga treats her character, and how she legitimately gets better over the course of it.
One lesser character that I feel doesn't get the attention she's due is Kuroki's teacher. I know some people view her as trying way too hard to help Kuroki really "get out there," but she is one of the prime reasons Tomoko even managed to get friends in the first place. Her intentions were true and she actually helped in the end.

I really like Tomoko, and the fandom's character-assassination and infantilization of her kills me.
