I play quite a few Gundam Games personally. I love the franchise and love the games especially. I have had so much playing them. But I wanna know what the anons on the forum thought of them. Personally Zeonic Front is my favorite. The Tactical Gameplay and Zeon Perspective is a ton of fun. I love it

I just finished G-Saviour an hour ago for the first time, and it was great. It is pretty bad by today standards but for a game that released 6 months after the PS2 launched it's... still not that good, but I don't know, I like bad old games, so I had fun.

That said I am going to say my favorite is most likely Gundam Crossfire for the PS3. It is trash, it looks bad, it runs bad. But I like the minor base and suit garage management mixed with really clunky controlling Mobile Suits.

I have only played a handful of Gundam games other than these two though, so I don't really have much to compare it to, I only started getting into the series in about 2022, and am going through the AU's now with After War X.

Dynasty Warriors Gundam Reborn!
Gihren Greed series!
Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn PS3
Mobile Suit Gundam Side Stories
Are all must play games. I wish someone made a RTS like Star Wars Empire at War but with the UC timelime. I would play that for years

I've got a pretty big soft spot for Battle Assault 2, Federation vs Zeon, and the Dynasty Warriors Gundam games.

the Build games are generally pretty fun. not sure if this counts but i do enjoy the Super Robot Taisen games too

When I was a kid, I loved the Battle Assault games on PS1. Journey to Jaburo was my first PS2 game, and I played that quite a bit. I later played Zeonic Front and Federation vs Zeon.

That said, if you were to ask me what my favorite Gundam game is now, then I honestly have no idea. Maybe Gundam vs Gundam NEXT+ on PSP, or Rengou vs ZAFT II Plus.

Despite enjoying both Red Comet and Gundam 79 (sort of enjoyed Iron-Blooded Orphans too) but the closest I've ever come to playing anything related to the series are other unrelated mecha games like ZOE or Virtual-On.

Are there any good Gundam games to try out as my first officially licensed Gundam gaming experience?

(Also, semi-unrelated note, are those posing skeletons for your Gunpla worth it? They've had one in my local charity shop for weeks and I've got both an RX-78-2 and a Zaku 2 who are looking a bit depressing without any good poses)

The Great Battle series on Super Famicom. I will not elaborate.

I loved GBO2 but I can't play it because it has the worst matchmaking and netcode known to man.
Out of our retro games I really like Dynasty Warriors Gundam series, and Encounters in Space is pretty good too.

yeah Gundam Builder 4 is pretty good, and the Super Robot Wars series is kino, even if it's not ONLY Gundam focused. I did enjoy SD Gundam Cross Rays, but it got boring quick for me, unlike SRW.

Gundam Side Story 0079: Rise from the Ashes (Dreamcast)

Endless Duel gets me the most nostalgic. Reminds me of being introduced to emulation by my older brother circa 2002. Gundam Musou 3 was also really sick. I have a copy of the Fromsoft Unicorn game on PS3 but have yet to play it.

Ah, I don't know the name for it, but the Zeon pod arcade games they had in Japan were awesome. Thing had 6 pedals, a full voice radio array and all of the stuff to make you feel like you are piloting a Zaku 2.

I also remember dying immediately when the og Gundam showed up instead of the mass production models. True authentic Zeon experience that.

I've been playing the English translation of Gihren's Greed: Menace of Axis V lately. Good pick if you're into strategy games, though being a PSP game the UI can be a bit rough compared to what you'd expect from a similar game on PC.

That's Senjou no Kizuna (see the logo) which also had a PSP port. As for my favorite of all the Gundam games, mine would be some of the G-Generation games, Cross Dimension 0079 (SFC), Federation vs Zeon (Arcade/Dreamcast/PS2), and Gundam SEED Rengou vs ZAFT I and II (Arcade/PS2/PSP), and the Gundam Battle PSP games (up until Assault Survive).

battle assault 2, dynasty warriors gundam titles, one where there were only gundam seed/seed destiny mechs (its for the PS2 but i dont remember the title) and climax u.c cuz the opening is the GOAT.
also loved using the gundam wing units in another century episode 2

These are the best gundam games that really capture the essence of gundam, pure realistic mech sims tend to make gundam very unfun.

I'd loved the dynasty warriors gundam games, I personally loved 3 the most and that awesome gamecube exclusive that required the pilot to level up for the gundam to respond better, it was panned by critics that didn't realise that. I think it was called pilots locus.

As mentioned by others on here, the battel assault games kept me company on many a long night of insomnia when I was a teenager

I think Battlefield Record UC 0081 is extremely underrated. It's about the closest thing you can get to an official Gundam Armored Core game. You can't customize the appearance of the mobile suits sadly, but there are lots of parts that change the stats of your mobile suit. It's a ton of fun to build into boost and speed and just zoom around the map.

It's a shame there hasn't been another game following this formula. Battle Operation Code Fairy is the closest we've got, but Battle Operations stiff movement and cool downs make the game feel way too clunky in comparison.

It's unfortunate it doesn't emulate well. It's definitely not a perfect game by any means. The AI partners are basically useless and the free mission mode can be a bit grindy, but it's still a ton of fun. Especially the online mode which is still functional thanks to peer-to-peer matchmaking.

It's pretty easy to pick up and play since most menus and important stats are in English so the only thing you'll be missing out on is the story, but if you want that there's a manga adaptation which has been translated and the scenario was included in G Generation Genesis which has an Asian-English release.
