What’s a good game that didn’t age well in your opinion?

A bunch of PS1 games, especially jrpgs.

If I throw a dart at a console RPG on Super Famicom or SNES, there's a good chance I will hit a game which has some story and a lot of gameplay. Disk loading wasn't an issue. Cinematics existed on other consoles such as PC Engine CD and the Sega CD.

That said, there were Playstation 1 console RPGs which didn't have (or emphasize) wobbly 3D graphics. I'll mention three titles that weren't ports...

* Arc the Lad and at least its first sequel were 2D games. I bought the collection, which was among the last premium releases from Working Designs. I don't tend to enjoy tactical RPGs. But even though I didn't like these games, you might care for them.

* Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure started on PS1. I wanted to like this game. The shoujo demographic storytelling was rare and refreshing at the time. It's the equivalent of finding The Courageous Princess in a comic store where everything else on the shelves is 1990s Marvel, DC, or Image Comics titles. The lack of exploration was discouraging -- I thought the protagonist was being shuffled through a handful of locations over and over. I didn't hate the light strategy RPG battles, but they didn't seem especially brisk or difficult. I don't recall which difficulty I tried.

* Dragon Quest 7 (localized as Dragon Warrior 7) is a seriously flawed game which I kind of like. It asks the player to constantly talk with nameless NPCs and explore corners of towns after events. It has optional content, but progressing through the story requires time and patience. If you can tell yourself, "I have one game to complete in the next few months," sort of like a vintage graphic adventure game, then you might care for DQ7. If not, then play either Dragon Quest 5 for its story, or Dragon Quest 9 for its customization features and side content.

A lot of platformers with tank controls. Those controls work much better for games like Resident Evil.

It sucks not being able to play Darkwatch with a mouse
