Either past or present

For me it was Gamefaqs. I'd go every single day to read the guides people wrote. This was back in 1997. Zophars Domain was another site id visit everyday for like a year...mainly for spc music and programs.

NintendoLife, Gematsu, and Time Extension. I still visit these sites daily.

Not a community in any sense, but,

Also RGT, I guess. Don't look at my login streak I check here everyday.

In my youth, there was a sorta "indie" website called The Gaming Intelligence Agency, which had authors who would post news, reviews, and features on games that I Actually Wanted To Play. The games they focused on which I wasn't interested in, like Misadventures of Tron Bonne, would go on to be cult classics that I wish I had played when they were contemporary and I had more time to play games.

I haven't found anything quite like it since Dial Up Days. Either it lacks the fun authorial tone, or it concentrates on games that I really don't have any interest in, or it has, without getting into politics, taken a side in the American Culture Wars, which I refuse to be recruited into. I just wanna load a website, hear about fun games, and have great authors write about them.

I visit GameFAQs since 2010, I don't know if everyday, but often.

I liked GameRankings, sadly, it was bought by Metacritic, if I remember well.

Anyway, SNESMusic.org is a great site for SPC files.

GameFAQs for guides, IGN for news, Serebii for Pokémon, Serenes Forest for Fire Emblem, The Castlevania Dungeon for Castlevania, Fighters Generation for FG stuff, Creative Uncut for concept art, The Spriters Resource for sprites, Video Game Recaps for hilarious written recaps, RPGFan for RPG news/reviews, The Let's Play Archive for written let's plays... there were more, but I forget.

Probably this one even if it's just checking the repo.

Serebii for Pokemon & Serenes Forest for Fire Emblem... maaaaan those were the days lol, did that quite a bit with my bros when I was younger!

I visit GameFAQs to this day. Mostly for guides and searching for retro games.
